some pics of my latest project. 49 ford for a 50th anniversary gift for my parents. almost like the one they had when they were married
Very cool. Radically chop it and bag it, theylle love it! Haha JK. Where did you get your floors/rockers/braces?
rockers came from macs some floors came from them also although the quality of the floors was lacking. the rest was hammered out from a sheet of 20 ga metal as were patch panels. ball joint kit and springs were from Jamco but again the quality prevents me from recomending them. engine and powertrain out of an 86 mustang as was the entire wireing harness. made the rotisseri from some old aircraft jacks and square tubing.
Here are some slightly later pics this is the notch to acomadate the power steering box from a dodge ram 50. the notch was later closed up with a 1/8 plate to strengthen the area here is the steering box and modified exaust manifold got the frame all sand blasted and painted made a new radiator support to handle the mustang radiator and ac condenser core as well as the trans oil cooler the engine install. lots of wires and it is running in this pic so i guess something is right
I am sure you have guessed but this has been over 2 years so i have just been lazy posting pics. the underside and interior get a couple good coats of DP90 the mustang wireing harness fits rather well and has all of the wires needed for the new 5in 1 gage in this one you can see the environmental control system from the mustang. the vacuum servos were replaced with the cables from the 49 so it will have the stock controls with minor exception test fitting the fenders and radiator support for the 10th or so time...... we got 4oz bottles of several colors to experiment with. there are 4 dif ones there and it made it easier to see which one we wanted
All the high quality patch panels we used came from EMS and were re-labelled by MAC, so next time, we'll just go straight to EMS. Thanks for posting the pics, Mark. I've been taking pictures, but haven't been very good about posting them.. Mark(aka FordFan) did all the mechanical and fab'ed the front end sheet metal, and I did most of the patch panels and body work. I am also working on the interior. We didn't have any seats, so we're using a Lincoln back seat w/ center armrest (unknown year), and a front bench seat from a '71 Chevelle. All the interior panels are there, so I'll use them for patterns to make new ones.
Thanks for posting the pics...glad one of you boys is getting something done. It is good to be able to see the progress you guys are making. Keep fighting the good fight and get that cruiser on the road! I may see you soon, Junkmonger!
Well found out that when you lower the car and use an automatic trans that sits higher then the stock trans the driveshaft hits the tunnel. Now i have to make a new tunnel.... have to figuer out how to roll a driveshaft tunnel with out a roller... Hmmmm well an oxygen tank is about the right diameter. Any suggestions? Mark
Got the tunnel and trans cover done Even got the shifter mounted Didnt want anything hanging below the frame so we had to run the fuel lines through the frame with tubes welded in to keep the lines from rubbing through Mounted the Fuel pump up next to the frame out of the way of road junk. The 5.0 is fuel injected so we needed a 40 psi pump The steering box is mounted to a plate welded to the frame. lines are modified to work with the mustang pump. Got the 5 in 1 gage wired in. note the oil pressure The engine is running in this photo. Finally it moves on its own. now to finnish the dash interior and body work. I will post more pics when the interior is assembeled
