Been a long while since I have posted any updates on the '51. I finally got the car in primer an thought I would post some pics. Huge thanks to Dava Paras, I would have never made the first cut without his encouragment and guidance. Another huge thanks to Sandman and HRH for all the hard work they put in helping to cut it up and weld it back together. It's been fun, but I am sick of sanding. I won't be doing any more chops this week..... I took about 5 inches out of the front and 6 inches out of the back. Now I am onto cleaning up the front clip and firewall.
Very nice, glad to see somebody making progress. You can show it to me in person at the LSR next year ! Johnnie.
I usually like slanted b pillars but that looks perfect. Is the drip rail a channel or is it solid stock? The chop looks great. What are you going to put in it? TP
Thanks for all the kind words. I had a tough time with the call between slanted and straight on the pillars. I love then both, but figured this might be easier for my first chop. I am just gonna run a 350 with some nice traditional looking dress up goodies. The goal is to make it reliable enough for the whole family to pile in and drive where ever. The drip rail is 1/2" conduit. I bent a section into a radius and the cut the section into quarters. It gave me a mirror inmage left to right. I am actually planning to extend the drip rail a bit bore a nd fade it away.
DAMN SON!!!! If your ever in Dallas and your bored look me up. Very nicely done, good slick lines and what a freaking over all look
You're such a perfectionist and I hate you for that... Great job crease, now give me back my Paris Hilton sex tape.... hahaha..j/k What did you decide on for trim and grill????
Your not getting the PH tape back! Plan is 55 Pontiac trim with a 54 Desoto grill, but still thinking about it.
Thanks again for all the kind comments folks. Steve, I truly now despise sanding. I cannot wait to get back on the mechanical! Eric, No problem, gimme a call and I'll get ya hooked up. Dave, Suprised I never ran into you, looking forward to talkin with you next year. Jason, Nah, he left me for a chick! I was always told that Barons weren't allowed to date chicks. Root, I was real impressed with the coupe, she's pretty darn solid.
hey man that thing came out perfect!!! im glad i was able to help a little. see i told ya its "wicked easy" cant wait to see it coming together.
Weird, that's what my mom said too!? All the positive comments make it worth all that sanding. Dave, Glad you're diggin it and thanks again for all the input. I'll keep ya posted on the progress.
Looks a little different from when I saw it in person last. Looks beautiful! What, are you tring to be like John Spenser now??? First the avatar now the chopped Ford, You going to start acting now?
