Been a long while since I have posted any updates on the '51. I finally got the car in primer an thought I would post some pics. Huge thanks to Dava Paras, I would have never made the first cut without his encouragment and guidance. Another huge thanks to Sandman and HRH for all the hard work they put in helping to cut it up and weld it back together. It's been fun, but I am sick of sanding. I won't be doing any more chops this week.....

I took about 5 inches out of the front and 6 inches out of the back. Now I am onto cleaning up the front clip and firewall.

I usually like slanted b pillars but that looks perfect. Is the drip rail a channel or is it solid stock? The chop looks great. What are you going to put in it? TP

Thanks for all the kind words.

I had a tough time with the call between slanted and straight on the pillars. I love then both, but figured this might be easier for my first chop. I am just gonna run a 350 with some nice traditional looking dress up goodies. The goal is to make it reliable enough for the whole family to pile in and drive where ever.

The drip rail is 1/2" conduit. I bent a section into a radius and the cut the section into quarters. It gave me a mirror inmage left to right. I am actually planning to extend the drip rail a bit bore a nd fade it away.

Your not getting the PH tape back!

Plan is 55 Pontiac trim with a 54 Desoto grill, but still thinking about it.

Thanks again for all the kind comments folks.

    Steve,

I truly now despise sanding. I cannot wait to get back on the mechanical!

    Eric,

No problem, gimme a call and I'll get ya hooked up.

    Dave,

Suprised I never ran into you, looking forward to talkin with you next year.

    Jason,

Nah, he left me for a chick! I was always told that Barons weren't allowed to date chicks.

    Root,

I was real impressed with the coupe, she's pretty darn solid.

Weird, that's what my mom said too!?

All the positive comments make it worth all that sanding.

    Dave,

Glad you're diggin it and thanks again for all the input. I'll keep ya posted on the progress.
