i was wondering how many of you drive somthing just to save for your hot rods. i drive a 1989 S-10 just so i can save what money i have twords my mopar. as i was driving on the freeway today at about 60, i pondered to myself " i wonder if anyone else drives a slightly P.O.S. just to have more for their project?" i bought it bc the price was right, $1200, it has a locking tool box and a long bed so i can put parts and such back there and it gets way better gas millage than my suburban used to get. what about yall?

Are you kidding me? The newest "car" I own is my wife's 94 Suburban, my p/u is an 86 Dodge and I ride my harley most days because it gets the best gas milage (that and it is just fun) of the fleet. I havent made a car payment since 1992. I just keep my old **** running so I can spend my money on the important things in life, like my kids and my T.

****, I walk to work. I figure it saves me about $30 a week in gas, wear and tear, etc.

My daily is a 67 Camaro or my 89 Chevy truck but the ole lady drives that most of the time. . As soon as i can afford it i want a early 60's chevy truck for a daily. I want my camaro to be my newest car i own. My truck is returning to the earth faster then ever these days So a new truck is in order. But if i ever get my triumph done i can save a little on gas.

I work from home so my morning commute is from my bedroom to my son's room where my computer is.

When I do have to travel I drive cruise in a (DON"T LAUGH) 2005 Scion Xb. Because it is so good on gas. I used to drive a 2004 Dodge HEMI Truck that just kicked my A** on gas.

I'm trying to save up for a new paint job for my Edsel.

On weekends or short trips around town I cruise in my 1959 Edsel.

It was only relatively recently that we had any "late model" cars.... over the years mostly we've driven hot rods as dailys. including my 59 chevy pickup I had in high school (going back together now after wrecking it a couple years ago), my wife's Dart she had in college, and various old cars and trucks over the years.

we finally gave in and wife bought a new truck in 1998, it's the only new one we've ever had.

My daily is a 66 caprice wagon. May not be the best on gas but at least I don't have a car payment.

haha. my s10 still have the stock 2.5 4 banger. but we run the same motor in our midget cars, so i think ill going to spruce it up a little and make it more fun. the owner that had it before me put on a "performance" muffler. and im not ragging on them, but you know what im talking about, my truck sounds like the cirtain people that have them ricers with the potato gun off the back. but its not THAT loud, still a little embarising. so thats the first thing to go...but im getting used to it :( ...its almost scarry.

76 Feather Duster- slant six and OD 4 speed. 31 on the highway, 18 around town and although I'm trying really hard to resist a full bore face lift, I've started upgrading the ch***is (full urethane, KYBs, .920 torsion bars, 340 resto springs, and front and rear stabilizer bars). ****er's plenty ugly enough to avoid being molested for the most part, so it makes a good daily. Trouble is I've been hoarding a 340 for more than a few years, so you know how it goes.

hmm...i guess i spoke too fast. anyway. i found these on my comp. and thought i would share. i few weekends ago me and my dad put in a saterday and my and a buddy from work put in a sunday. so after a 26 hour thrash in my garage. i got brakes mounted and lines ran. rear end put together and put in. found three sets of rims and four tires that would work. almost got into a fight with some "gangsta" at 'O Rillys, and all of that, only cops call once. and that was by a girl that lives down the street that i go to school with. after we went cruising, i desided to pull the motor and rebuild it.

i havent had a single problem, functionally wise, yet. i put an avonti studebaker motor in the back and drove to la grange last weekend and i didnt have a problem. except i was cruising about 55. but i got to look around a little more. see more of the sad looking yard art people have, rusting away. collecting phone numbers and names along the way.

  28. Every rod I have owned has been my daily driver, a 29 RPU, 32 3window (Blown 427 SOHC) 38 club coupe, 28 roadster. Then I was building my last car another 28 9RPU) ran into financial trouble and had to sell it. Ended up driving an 81 XD Ford Falcon with a 490hp 351 Clevo (Built to groupe C specks for you Aussy race fans) until I bent too many valves and pushed a shock through the tower, now I drive a **** box 92 EB Falcon 6 cylinder on gas, at least its cheap to run!
I guess now Im working I can see a 31 coupe on 32 rails in my future, maybe flatmotor power?? Hemi if money permits??

  30. My '47 Sedan Delivery is what you'll normally see me driving around in.

I was driving my '72 F-100, but at 10mpg, it was too expensive to drive. The Delivery does about 13-14 mpg. Doesn't sound like a lot better, but when ya' do the math, it's a 35% improvement  .

Might be a good time to repair the '86 Mazda B-2000 I bought new. It used to get 21-22 mpg, and it has A/C for the summer. Got ill at 225k, it's not terminal. Just needs a water pump transplant.
