my daily driver is a beat up '94 ******. friends of my wife gave it to me when my '84 f150 died. the ****** needed a clutch and brakes; they were tired of paying a mechanic to fix it.

the ****** was supposed to be "temporary" while i looked for the right truck, but "temporary" has lasted 23,000 miles.

when a beater's good to you, it's hard to justify replacing it.

On the odd occasion I'm not working I run around in an old Mazda B2200 deisel pick-up , not pretty or fast but I'm spending all my spare cash on my modified project . Once thats done I might re-body the Mazda with 40's Chevy panels

Newest car I own is a 72. My "daily" (though in pieces now) is my 55 wagon. However, I'm very fortunate. The company I work for provides a new truck with gas card and that's what is actually my "daily"...but it costs me a whopping $12 a week for gas reimbur*****t.

I've personally never bought a new car though I've bought one for the wife to tote around the kids. I don't make car payments! I'm too frugal (my wife would say cheap).

i drive the galaxie everyday....it used to get only about 10mpg with the 352 and 4bbl but now for some weird reason with the poked and stroked 11.5:1 406 and 3X2 it gets about 13-14mpg?????? makes no sense to me other than having a progressive linkage. if i dont drive the galaxie my other chioce is a 1993 Nissian quest minivan or sometimes my dad will let me have the 99 dodge 2500 ***mins diesel but not often. so for me i get stuck driving the hot rod everyday but hey im not complaining it beats the hell out of the minivan!

I drive what I have, and unfortunately, it's all I can currently afford. Its an '89 Chevy ex-cab half ton truck. 350/5spd, and what I beleive are 3.08 gears in the rear. If I'm nice to it, I'll average between 14-17 in town, and 17-20 on the highway. Hell, I'm lucky enough to even get 14.5 pulling my empty car trailer! The bad thing about this old dog is that the clearcoat is peeling all over the roof, the bed fenders are rusting out, its got a blue nose from where I wrecked it a year ago, and its just plain ugly. However, it's got 275,000 miles on it now and its still kicking! I hope to retire it in about a year or so.

Once my Dubble A hits the road, I'm hoping/planning to make it my daily driver. I've opted for an economy type powerplant and 4 speed auto trans in hopes of getting the absolute best mileage possible in order to force it to the top of the heap.

I decided a while ago if i was going to put money into a car, be it a loan payment or monthly repairs, it needed to be something i really like.

I only drive 3 miles so my '51 F1 is my daily. I've also got a '67 BSA chop that is both backup transportation as well as just ****ing bad ***.

I kick around in a 94' Yo' p/u with the heat and keys package that just turned 490,000mi.
It used to be a parts runner that I got for free. It's also damn near free to drive and saves me $ for the more important things. i:e the wifes car, the house and my buick project.

I have a 2004 Mazdaspeed MX-5 as my commuter car. Actually a 2-seat sports car makes lots of sense since I'm only hauling a single *** and briefcase to the office and back. My daily commute is only about 15 miles round trip and I only have to fill the 12 gallon tank about once every two weeks. Besides, the Mazdaspeed is pretty quick, more than capable on the twisty bits of road, and being able to throw the top down on nice days makes the car a lot of fun. Now, if only it had an LS1 instead of the little turbo engine.......

  15. I have a ford exploder, but I need a pickup and something better on gas.

So I picked up a 87 S10 shortbox with a 305 swapped in. Its getting a fresh mild 350 to replace to tired 305, and a rear axle swap to get some 3.08's in there to replace the 4.11's. I am probally going to slip in a overdrive trans as soon as I can.

  16. This is my daily driver. The money i save in car payments, taxes, registration fees, and insurance allows me extra money for toys and GAS in this car. PLUS, when i sell it, it'll be worth MORE than what i paid instead of LESS like a newer car. WIN-WIN.

I'm in Real Estae, so my "daily driver" has to be respectable and comfortable. Fudged some by driving a Yukon for years. Acceptable for work, great for weekends.
Just got a new Dodge Magnum, with a Hemi. Customers think it's cool, works for my hobbies, lots more fun to drive.

My daily is an '05 Mini Cooper S, good on gas:), bad on payments:(.
I have found that it will haul four wheels and tires though. When it's nice I drive my '57.

I drive a 74 Nova, because it runs well and it's cool  ! Literally, it has the coldest AC in our fleet!
We have a 97 Saturn we bought new, it's part of the family. When the 3 hot rods are running, we'll be driving them everywhere - so I don't drive other cars to save from driving them, nor will I. When the 50 Burb is done, I think the Nova will go on ebay.

I put my first wife in a nice 56 Buick Special. She used it in real estate, had her signs on it and all that. Customers loved it! "Cl***ic Service"

    just food for thought there.......

The Buick is what we cruise 50% of the time and the bird and Pontiac split the other 50. The Buick and Pontiac get great gas mileage, the bird, not so great. What the hell, better than drivin foriegn!

I bought a new car last year. I have never in my 30 years of life had a new car. It was kinda really cool to have one. Everything I owned before then was a 80 something POS. I worked out my budget for my car to where when i get a raise at work the car payment equals the extra amount so its like I am still making the same money i have always made. So I have about the same amount of cash for my Buick that I have always had.

I drive A LOT (and sometimes in a lot of Snow), so I just purchased a new Z71 extended Cab GMC last Friday (traded in my '00 Yukon)-it's cool (if ya like new stuff), we also have a '98 Mustang w/25K on it, a '03 Yukon, and my first new, American car purchase (a '95 Ford F150 extended Cab Vanworks conversion). We're getting too many Cars for two of us, so we are selling our old Supercharged Bonneville-

I drive an '05 Ford Focus ZX3, 5-speed. Not a single factory option added. My commute has been over 100 miles round trip for the last two years, so the fuel economy and reliability were pretty important. It's about to turn 60K miles and still runs like new. I'm starting a new job in a couple of weeks that is only 5 miles from the house, so the Fairlane will get a LOT more daily driving than it has in recent years.

I have been driving my 62 Vomet more door for almost 3 1/2 years now. Ive put about 40,000 miles on it since ive owned it. Its got 200 in. stright sick, with a rebuilt ford-o-matic and a 3.08 rear out of a newer Vomet. I get about 20 MPG on the freeway and I could keep up with the Joneses in the fast lane with no problems if I want to. Ive only owned one newer car since I started driving years ago,and that was a 96 Caprice ex cop car with the Impala SS drivetrain, it took me only a few months to realise im not a new car person. And I hope it stays that way for as long as possible.
