After working on this thing on and off, and realizing it just might not be worth saving, we took one last hoorah on it and beat it with hammers. *Started with my friend Ryan and a rod thru the windshield....

    Off the top rope!

    Liters? *Gallons!

OK...just kidding. *Well, sorta. *Not kidding about this car being a piece of dog poop, but kidding about the destroying of it. *That was the easiest way to remove the wasted windshield.

So around 5 pm after blocking the 51 for too long, I got tired of it so Ryan and I went outside the shop to fiddle with the coupe...see if any rats were living in it. *Kinda just hung out there for a minute, digging the sunshine and bored of the 51 when I said "Man, Id love to just screw off and chop this thing today". *He goes "Yeah man". *Its 5pm and somehow this is a good idea. *

So we clean the other side of the shop....

Bring this turd in....now have 2 Fords for people to stop and ask what year Chevy...

This is about the point my girlfriend showed up and we got iced coffee. *

Came back and made the marks. *4" front and rear, straight pillars. *Hoping less is more...

*******! *Thats only no brakes face...actually has all new schtuff, a Granada rear and some other goodies under the facade or rusty junk. *

The new shortened A pillar. *This chop should require using very very little filler. *The top looks off in the photo, but its right on....needs some tweaking that we got too tired for., Just trying something new instead of jacking it up w/ a 4x4 or making a new panel. *Working so far, we'll see...

    Quitting time....

All in all, this was inspired again by seeing 00 Mack's coupe, the lack of wanting to wait for this dag sedan roof to show up (was going to swap the roof and chop it 5/7 as a sedan), and the desire to not do plastic work anymore for the day. *

Just honestly got to the point where A. I didnt wanna wait anymore for this sedan roof trade to come to fruition, and B. didnt wanna work on the 51 anymore. Needed a change of scenery...metalwork to break up the plastic work was right on the money. Going back to the shop now, totally stoked!

you should either tape up your gl*** or remove it so your welding slag doesn't ruin it.

Yep, it was wrapped in plastic for most of it. I dont like removing it because the window from a side profile, gives a ton to the roofs curvature. I took the 51s out for blocking to make it easier and stand thru the window opening infront of the package tray, this will probably stay in the whole time. Even the gasket is pretty nice haha :)

I was thinking about it over lunch, maybe we can work out some sort of barter, Im going to need the 51 sprayed soon, maybe one or two more over the summer...just dont wanna get the town's foot up my *** any further.

Ha, thx. This one should be at Connecticut if A. its ready and B. my friend Ryan wants to drive it. Prolly put a 302/C4 in it that, with my SBF luck, will ventilate a rod thru the block somewhere on 95...

They are called Clinkos? Glinkos? Kinkos? Something like that. My friend and awesome shop mate Mike (Polytoxic on here) had 4. They made the job sweet...1 dropped in the car that I have to retrieve tomorrow morning, but the other 3 are still on the car. Im definately going to get some.

you can get those clamps at Harbor freight...I think they were 3 bucks for a pack of 10.

  21. Clecos go in holes, for example, panels to be riveted later.

Well I'll put it this way, we each pay for materials, respectivley; as long as you help me tape and prep, you know I'm in for some cut and tack. That sounds like the best idea you've had yet.

Ha....after getting the perfect rear window pitch and then freaking sneezing and it moving I was like...wait, Mikes got one of those.....those.....blue things. Just under 35 degrees with a **** welded rear panel was the ticket.

Want me to take pics of it 2morrow?

Ya, I think we can fit about 5 more choo boxes in there. Knowing chris he might try actually .

As long as I can work on my car he can strap them from the I beam for all I care, haha.

  29. Yeah, more lifts would be great. Then we wouldn't have to hang 'em from the I-beams. We've only got one lift & 8 bays. 3 of 'em are the paint shop & 1 of those is for the booth, so we actually have 5 bays to work out of. If all goes well, we'll be breaking ground on a new spot in town in June. My fingers are crossed, ha.
