In gearhead speak, if you can count your worth to the world by the number of cylinders you own or support, where do you stand. running or not as long as it`s internal combustion add them up. my total is 147 by
I'm cylinder challenged, only 8 V8's and one 4 cyl, for 68 total. I'm shop challenged too, I guess. House is 2128 sq ft, but the shop, the garage and the shed only total 2120 sq ft. I feel so underprivileged.
I'm only at 56. I've got 24 in flathead Ford, 6 in British sportscar, 8 in chevy smallblock, 12 in jeep inline 6's, 4 in japanese daily-driver, and a couple between lawn tractor and the snowblower. Never added them up before - that was pretty cool. Pete
Running cylinders in cars = 36 Plus several engines that are waiting to be swapped - so another 24 I feel deprived.
Geez, I'm the bottom of the barrel: running is 22 cylinders. but I have 8 - 6 bangers ready to hop up. Anybody need a 235 for their project???
50 running 144 total.... Hmmm.... 3 garages, and a semi trailer.... all have parts.... Might have missed something... I guess its 144 total... maybe more, 144 for sure. fun little exercise.
Still married with 2 kids in school . . . I'm hanging in there with 22 cylinders running. 47 Ford Panel
I'm way off the pace here with only here only 16... 2 six's and 2 bikes... hopefully soon to start on sbc motor for a 29 to 33 sedan or coupe
That's a funny way to look at that. In cars I have 104, counting engines in my "engine rack" and all lawn mowers, weedeaters & chainsaws (I live in the desert, why do I have 4 lawnmowers & 3 chainsaws???) I have another 32 136 total.
**** im screwed... i have 12 hahaha.. daily 4 banger and my hot rod motor... just sold all my bikes off and everytrhing so im at the bottom!!!! someone give me a couple rocket motors STAT so i can catch up!
between my cars, motorcycles and lawn "tools"I have 56 and they all run. If you add all the stuff I support at work it adds another 232 for a total of 288
40 in non running flatties, 24 in running ford V8's, 2 GM's, 8 in bikes, and 7 in various other engines. So, that makes 113. Various means 2 chainsaws, 2 weedeaters, and 3 mowers. I was 4 cyl. more last week. Now who's going to step up with a total displacement on those cylinders? I just had to figure it up. Without the lawn equipment, I have 3484 cu. in.
including 5 offsprings cars that I'm still "SUPPORTING" im up to 116. oops, forgot about the weedeater, 117
I'll tell you exactly how bad I have it..I recently sold a piece of property 80 miles away where I have all my stuff stashed, my contract says I have six months to move all my stuff, about 25 cars and a mountain of parts..So, what was the first thing I did? I went out and bought another car of course! it is a 48 Cadillac sedanette about 20 miles away..Well, the first thing I did was some overhaul work on my truck and trailer, I'm not completely insane..Sally and I own about 40 cars (they own us) and we are always about one step ahead of the neighborhood nazis and of course are friendly with the local Sheriff who is a rodder with an old El Camino..so,counting bikes, lawnmowers, etc. thats about 350 cyls. prolly totalling 200 h.p.
12. Just recently got into this hot rod thing. Got my 390 and a 4 cyl in the honda daily beater. I am very thankful, however, that I didn't end up saying 8. (Former rice fan, if you will. Then again, I wouldn't have been here to respond at all if I had two hondas, now would I?)
i have figured it to be around 187 with all the tractors and cars and dirtbikes. iwould say only 20 or so arent running. just think if you could put all that power in one engine. now that would be a fun ride!
Too funny, I love some folks perspectives................ Currently have 40, 16 are in the dailys, and 24 are project motors..... And one 2-stroke chainsaw.......
I feel like such a slacker 8 inline in the buick, 5 inline in my truck an a lawn mower. so my number is only 14. Still havent picked up the 8 for my tudor so my numbers will go up soon.
Lessee..... I've got 40 cylinders in runners, 54 in stored mills , a too small 30X30 garage here at home, a 35x40 dry storage pole building 10 miles from here that I rent for $50 a month... . Guess I *do* got it.....
8 in Flathead cylinders, 6 in Ford Inline cylinders, and 6 in my daily driver S10. May not be as much as most on here, but as long as the count stays above my age, I'll be happy
Seems to be 112> working on an addition to my barn as we speek, no wonder I am broke$ p*** the schlitz%#!@# BSB
I think it would be 123....54 in running cars, 48 in V8 motors sitting around, 14 in tractors, lawn mowers, weed eaters, four wheeler, scooter, power washer, etc. No wonder I can't seem to stay caught up.
i'm at 26. v-8 in my 55, v-6 in my van, 4 cyl. in my cavalier, 2cyl in my 66 triumph, 2 cyl in my tractor, one cyl. in my pushmower, one cyl in my weed eater, one cyl in my chain saw and one cyl. in my old 74 kawasaki enduro. all are running...none in the non running state.
