It's funny about pets...the good ones seem to get under your skin in a way that can't be explained. I lost the first dog that was all mine over 35 years ago and still I miss her when I read posts like this.

Sorry to hear about your dog. That's gotta be a tough loss.

On the positive side.... you've probably got the only car tire in the world that has a scrotum.

I'm really sorry you lost your good friend. It will hurt less with time-a little. I euthanized my 14 year old Lab 16 months ago and still look for him in the driveway when I come home. One of the very hardest parts of our jobs as veterinarians is to council those who have lost their pets. Cancer's tough. We have lots of treatments-but most of the time we lose. What kind of cancer did your dog have?

I am so sorry for your loss. As my wife says, they are not pets they are a part of our family. We just lost a male Chihuahua (9 yrs old) to a heart attack. We hab been fighting it since last September. He is also greatly missed.

sorry 2 hear that. just put my 3 yr old bernard down a couple months ago. go get another dog. it helps

  21. paperdog,

Your dog was one handsome fella. I'm sure his absence leaves a big hole in your heart.

My best buddy got stomach cancer. We had to put him down at age 14 and a half in January, and we still miss him terribly. We're grateful to have gotten him at age 1 when another family couldn't keep him because the dad turned out to be allergic. He was an integral part of our lives. Without him, the music and rhythm of our family is changed. The God I believe in will reunite us all someday!

Good luck, and know that you're understood here.

That's so hard, man. I lost my first dog last year and the best cat I've ever had. I'm greatful I had as long with them both as I did.

Not today, not this week, possibly not this month, but probably the best thing you can do is to go down to the pound and give some other great dog a good home. That's probably what he'd want, isn't it?

Sorry to hear that. I can sympathize with you. We had to have our Black Lab pup put down due to cancer about two months ago. He was the best dog and to lose him so young was very hard. I still look for him to follow me around in the morning and great me when I get home from work.<?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:eek:ffice:eek:ffice" />

Haha, I think a little humor to brighten up the day is in order! I noticed that tire as well, thought someone was inside it trying to moon me...but scrotum is funnier!

Long live "PaperDog", even if it's only in your memories.
Be thankful for the time you had with him.

They don't call them "mans best friend" for nothing.

I've always been a dog lover, (not THAT kinda love, ya pervs!)
and have had to deal with at least half a dozen buddies p***ing on to doggie heaven. It's never easy, in fact as I get older, it get's harder for me, but i'm a big softie when it comes to my furry kids(AKA pets)

I've got a choclate lab that's around 6, can't stand the thought of him not being here someday. He's been the most amazingly theraputic treatment for me since I injured my back in '01.

When I got him, he was a stray, but took to me INSTANTLY, and the feeling was mutual. We've been buds ever since. He sleeps by my feet when I hurt too much to do anything, and goes where ever I do when I'm able.

    I love my dog!

He keeps me from going crazy with cabin fever when I'm bed ridden.

I wish they all could live forever!

    RIP

My wife and I feel your pain. We've lost a few during our marriage and it's one of the toughest things you can go through outside of loosing a human family member.
It's already been said, but the best way to get that feeling back is to get a new puppy. Only you will know when the time is right but when that feeling comes dont fight it, your departed friend would want you to feel that joy again.
