Now I need somewhere to stay. I have a campsite reserved for friday nite but I'm still looking for somewhere to throw my tent on Saturday. For those of you that stay at lake Nacimiento, do you think its possible to get a site there saturday afternoon or maybe on the morning I could swoop in and get a spot? The lady on the phone would only say 'we get full quick'. We're going to stay at San Simeon SP the first nite probably wont make it out to the cruise but I want to get there 1st thing in the AM Saturday. If you know of anywhere that hasn't been mentioned on here or anything...please help me out. I looked all over around Morro Bay etc. Ideally thats where I'd like to stay but if it comes to it I can always sleep in the car I guess. Thanks for any help...I know this topic has been covered and I think I've honestly called every campground I could come up with from here and google. So I'm pretty much convinced I'm SOL. Hope to see everyone there. I just got a new lens for my camera and I can't wait to get some great pictures. Birdman PS If anyone has a campsite they would be willing to share, It's just me and my roommate and a small tent. I can barter with beer, photography (I'm no pro but better than average I think, the camera helps a lot there), or even those little green pieces of paper....
Best thing is to start at the top of this list (From the WCC site) and see what you can find..... http://www.westcoastcruise.com/Paso07Flyer2.pdf
Yeah I was trying to stay away from hotels. Funds are tight, and all the hotels were way to high and most had 2 nite minimums. Sucks but oh well. It's almost impossible for me to plan too far ahead with my job, so I've run into this before. Bird
If you don't mind a drive, check SanLuisObispo, Pismo Beach, ArroyoGrande, SantaMaria. SM is the farthest at about 60 miles - all these towns are on the 101.
Thanks for the suggestions, I saw Cerro Alto, but I'm still worried they're gonna fill up on friday and I'm gonna have no chance of snagging a site on saturday. But we'll see. Thanks again. Seeya in Paso Bird
If you are planning to go as far out as Nacimiento, then there is an overflow campground at Lake San Antonio which is just a bit past Nacimiento. I stayed there the first couple of years I went to Paso. They always told me that it would "never be full" and I could always count on just driving in and getting a spot. It's a huge field and unlimited camp space. Nacimiento was always full by Friday because of all the people on the Lake for Memorial weekend.
Thanks Cleatus, thats exactly the info I was looking for. Seems like I'm just gonna have to go and see what I come up with. Lake Nacimiento was pretty much my last choice but its better than sleeping in the car. I'm really hoping someone at the campground Im staying at friday nite will cancel or we can get a spot there somehow for Sat nite too. Bird
