Kinda tough to see in there, but what I can see looks pretty good. Is that a 287? What intake manifold? Bil
yep, it's a 287...stock 2 barrel intake with a vintage speed 2x2 adaptor. the carbs are rochester 2g's, running straight linkage. the valve covers were made by holley (got em off e-bay for $26.00) the guy i got them from, ground off the holley letters. so, i got 2 pewter belt buckles that have the pontiac logo on them, and put them on in place of where the holley lettering once was. i also added some red anodized "287" #'s to the valve covers. kinda cheesy, but definitly different. i still have some minro details to take care of (coolant hoses), and i am going to re-do the fuel lines with a chrome mr. gasket fuel block mounted to the firewall.
I like those 55 pontiacs as I almost bought a 55 starchief 2 door hardtop,it only had 16,000 miles but had sat since 71 in a driveway. I could never under stand why it was not in the garage,I had too many projects at the time and the motor was stuck and both doors were rotten on the bottoms so I p***ed on it. I think it had every option except for a/c and would of made a nice cruiser. Jeff
