Oh great gurus of drum brake systems... I can't seem to solve my own problems so I turn to your wisdom and knowledge....

I'm putting together the rear end - I've got a 9" ford rear end that's been narrowed, backing plates are from an 82 F150 with the 11" brakes (think it's 10.97", but close enough to call it 11") and axles that are drilled for the "small ford" bolt pattern (5x4.5") - anyhow I'm looking for a "drop on" (it really doesn't cons***ute a bolt-on does it  ) rear brake drum - of course all the parts sources are asking for year/make/model of car - anyone have any idea what I can use to tell them - or have a number from an 11" brake drum with the small ford bolt pattern that will be a direct fit to the 9" rear's backing plate?

    Thanks in advance!

Had them try and look up the Torino wagons from the early 70's last night - I'll try looking at the LTD wagons from the real early 80's or late 70's.

was hoping someone knew for sure what I can ask for - their paper catalog selection was a little lacking in specs.

The ones I looked up were 11x2.5" drums... I did find a mid-80's Crown Vic that had an 11x2.25 drum listed - anyone confirm that they've got the right bolt pattern???

    A mid-80's Crown Vic will have the 5 x 4.5 lug pattern.

Are your axles the right length for 2.25" wide drums? You might want to double-check. You could end up with interference between the backing plate and drum, or your wheel bearing may not sit in the right location.
