My nephew is coming home on leave sometime in July before he goes over seas to the fighting. He's into cars and trucks like his Uncle, so I'd like to take hin to a car show or a Good Guys type drag race(pre 1975). Are there any in Illinois, Indiana, Wisconsin, Michigan or Iowa in JULY. And no I don't know what time in July he'll be home.
    Thanks

If you dig really old historic race cars, the Miller Meet is at the Milwaukee mile July 8 and 9.

    My good man,
might I suggest you contact your local hot rod building master & all around great guy ANDY DIDIO, who can be found at Marty & Sons BOdy SHop (also known as Suicide Axle Hot Rods) in Sycamore, IL. (I do believe it is close to your city.) YOu can reach him at 815-895-2179.
He usually attends CHEATERAMA here in MIlwaukee, and brings a crew of hot rods & kustoms with him!
Our show is July 14th at THE NITE OWL DINER in Milwaukee. It is a short ride from you and we are right across from the air port if you want to flyin your chopper!, FREE beer, great food, killer hot cars. Do a search on here for pics from previous years. YOu & your nephew will NOT be disapointed.

The Cheaters show in Milwaukee is the the best. If your into streching the boundaries. The 3 day Kohler International Challenge at Road America in Elkhart Lake ,Wisc is a great 3 day event , July 19-22. Its the annual vintage race car gathering and the Road and Track Concours d' Elegance. (I know its the spit and polish crowd but theres just a lot of great stuff there and many of these guys put them on the track and drive the **** out of them). www.roadamerica.com

I *heart* the Cheaters and their funkadelic lil sideshow at the Nite Owl! :D Definitely worth the drive from Dekalb.

Bring him by our shop anytime. My partner Kevin has spent some time in the "sandbox" as well. We're also planning a reliabilty run on July 29th. I'm hoping to drive out to check out the restoration of a certain B-17.
