Caddy time...this is 1 of my favorites ever...48 /49 caddys fastbacks are a special flavour to me...always wanted one to kustomize...

    well,i got it now...a 48,in very good conds overall....running.

bought it some months ago and still needs to be cleaned...

all front end is in the trunk,...bumpers are inside the car ,as you see.-

plus boxes od misc. parts too....

1 of these days i'm start with this one.....looks ugly now ,sits really high....but you'll see soon how it goes....

    sorry,not for sale....

BTW,i'm just dealin another 48 fastback....remember now that i had some leads...will buy the 2nd one too...told me is much better than this, can't wait to check it out....stay tuned...

ok,also some trucks ....an mid 50's Ford, nicely rodded...was just parked close by...

but there are plenty around in these conds..mexicans love those TROCAS....that's how they call em....

    personally i like more late 40s' / early 50's Chevys...those with 5 stripe grill,look cool when slammed....

Sled, thanks for the pics. Great thread! I've really been enjoying it. I often wondered what the old car scene was like in Mexico, as when ever Mexico is on tv, there are often lots of interesting old cars in the background.

Can someone on here please give me a rough idea of the exchange rate between Mexico and the US, just so I can figure out the prices on Sleds website?

Sled, is ther much late '60s and early '70s muscle car stuff there? I would like to eventually buy and ship a Camaro or Cuda back home to New Zealand one day to build up for classic racing.

    Keep the pics coming...............

Can I just ask you how much these go for down there- or is it a big secret? I mean are you getting U.S. prices for these things or are you getting just pesos-on-the-dollar? I've heard its next to impossible to get across the border non-running- unless you do it illegally or completely dismantled. Any truth in that Sled?

By the way, can you give some more details on this Camaro? It looks like an old Trans-Am car.

gday, steve 38...glad you like all shit from here....there is a local tv chjannel called " de pelicula" and they just show Bmovies and black/white 50's movies....you acn imagine the huge amount of cars/bikes...all americans of course...

mexico has been always heavily influenced by yanks, still they control the country....

    about the mexican peso/USD rate is 11 pesos (aprox) today= 1 USD...sometimes is 10.50 pesos= 1 USD

i know you have a cheaper dollar there....but you have the idea above...so,you can convert it to your rate...

plenty of 60's and 70's cars...but remember taht mexico has been always considered the garbage of US about cars...so,a huge restriction with big engines applied here unless you were a high level politician guy or president...in this case everything was allowed into the country....

i know some serious muscles cars imported back then, and still somewhere around here..hidden!!!talkin 426 hemis,Shelbys and Boss 429....stuff like that....but not easty to get em anymore....

they know what they are now with the internet worldwide....but are still comin up once in awhile....you never know,mate...

easy to send cars abroad from here, but i suggest a 40" container with at list 2 cars in ,to cut the costs....

take care and stay tuned, lot more stuff to show....sled

caddyrat,well....waht you mean exactly about prices???i pay em in local pesos,of course....sometimes even in USd ,depends on the guy and the car..depends..

usually in local pesos, wich is the currency...

about exportin to US,i've been personally thru the border sometimes crossin with NON running cars in a trailer and exported to US...sometimes is easy ,other is a big hassle...depends wich custom guy you find....but if you got all papers of the car,well...there is nothin they can do against you ,to get back a car to US...is legal.

problem and real fact is,considerin the bad relationship and the enourmous amount of illegal mexcans crossin to US the relationship is kinda complicated....

you guys are really paranoid about and it affects also a normal guy wich works on car stuff when crossing the border,ya know...

i mean,i don't like the way customs treat people, generally talkin...

personally i prefer to load cars from inside the country, also accordin to my time instead of going up north in US...too much time wasted, unless wanna go to a cool swapmeet in TX or CA....

    you get the idea????

here something that pisses me off ...a 32 ford 5 window coupe project made it in a mexican way....piece of CRAP!!!

ok,it has been chopped but the worse part is they adapted a 70's impala chassis and put some fiberglass to counor the lower body panels...holy crap!!!

and then look at the back section....it has been totally welded (no idea why) and patched LOT of fiberglass /bondo to finish it...

i can't get it here....i don't any human reason to do this SHIT!!!

    makes me mad....

    firewall is gone somewhere....

well, story is...i try to rescue the thing ,at list the half body...chassis/drivetrain is useless.

but they are still askin serious cash for this crappy thing....will see how it goes....

this is typical here, lot of stuff has been destroyed in this way...a LOT!!!

I have been totally digging this thread. Not just for the cars but also for the picts of the background. I went to Mexico almost two years ago, Guadalajara, Jalisco and we spent a day in Mexico City. It was very different from the US but so relaxing and beautiful at the same time. My girlfriends family is from San Martin, Jalisco so we spent most of our time there. Mexico City is like any big city with it's diversity, crime, etc. but... damn what a BIG city! I totally believe you about the love of the cars down there.
When we were there I seen them everywhere, from being neglected hulks at the side of the road to being used as playground equipment (literally, there was a playground that had a 47 Pontiac fastback) to being fully restored classics like a beautiful 56 Fairlane driving near the airport in Guadalajara.
In the small towns there were more cars that needed to be fixed or were well used but in the larger cities people have a little more money to spend on them obviously and it shows. In Gldjra I seen a 57 Chevy in dark blue done up real nice and an original Model T in a body shops glass showroom that faced the street. There were tons of old cars and there are quite a few people who adore them down there as well.
One thing.... there isn't the pressure down there to get rid of your car just because it is old and you have to fit the status quo and the gov't isn't trying to pull them all of the road either like here.

Sled, if you get a chance post some more picts of the community and the cars around. Thanks for posting this.

turbo442,thanx for the correct description from your personal experience...is see some daily life in your words...
and the variety of the stuff around,yeah....you never know where stuff is...can be a fairground or who knows what else??

makes me always be in constant red alert when i drive around, lookin in all holes between gates and doors..or askin shops and old guys sittin in the road..you never know...so much fun,really...

also the coutryside is peaceful, llot to see ....

DF (federal district AKA mexico city) is a big mess, more than 20 millions livin up to the hills illegally, who can counts those there???

but still up there there are cars, found some good shit in those places...

to get the real picture about mexicans you need to belatin to understand...the sentimental value of the old jalopy owned by the grand daddy or belonged to the family since new..very hard for them to get rid of..really!!!still after generations thery are still keepin the thing, and no money at all to restore them...no way!!!

but,yeah...is a kind of a different world....but personally i feel quite relaxed here and have great friends made...so,will keep going to follow my way of life collectin old junk,fellas....

yeah, more pix to come..would'nt leave you alone guys

    glad you liked the effort....
