i finished up the headers and was able to start the 390 up for the first time and break the cam in. sounds really strong. Did a quick paint job on the dash and mounted the shifter. This week i will get the wireing done and plum the brakes. my freind should be able to drive it out to pomona for the roadster show on the 16th the car still looks RUFF but it will come together here's some pics <!-- / message --><!-- attachments -->
Looks good. I'm making a 56' ford gasser. How did you hang the straight axle? Did you bolt it to the original frame or did you make a custom clip or chassis?
i used 2 by 3 square tube to box the front. i found the mounting hardware for the leaf springs at a locall trailer store.
I have been wanting to do a '53 or '54 Ford gasser, now for a few years! I have NEVER seen one, and I had to say: "coolest thing EVER"... awesome...There are enough tri-five chevy's, for now...lets do these older Mopars and Fords...
Me too! Ever since my first car (a '53 coupe w/ V-8/3-speed). It'll happen for me when it's meant to. Until then, you're havin' my share of the fun. So live it up, man! Looks like fun...
Too cool. My first drag racing was in a '53 Ford Victoria, flathead powered K-Gasser. Great memories.
Must have been late 60's-early70's because at late as 66 H/Gas was the lowest gasser class. G/Gas and H/Gas were reserved for the 6 cyls and flatheads
What kind of headers are you running? Any more pics of your firewall(inside&out)? I am putting together a 52 ford and I am getting ready to cut the frame and make a 2x3 front end. The car will have a bbc and a muncie (it's what I already had) and have been tossing around the idea of recession the motor back because if I don't all the weight is directly over the front axle, which I don't like
