Coastal A's & Rods Fun Run & Show - Corpus Christi, TX

May 25-27, 2007

This is the 15th Annual Coastal A's & Rods Fun Run & Show (as well as my 15th year in attendance!). We'll be headed down from the Austin area on Friday May 25th to hang out at Snapka's Motor Dining/Drive-In on Leopard St. and drink alot of beer. Then Saturday morning heading over to the Holiday Inn Airport for the car show. Usually a pretty good turn out for a town without a scene. Big mixture of cars ranging from real hot rods, billet cars, customs, modern stuff, lowriders, originals, etc. Lots of RGV, SA, Gulf Coast, & Central Texas rods & customs show up for this one. Hanging out at Snapka's is the main reason for going...it's a blast.

I have tickets for the HOOKS game that night, but I think I will be uhm giving those away and going to snapkas instead. I will there there sat ( no rod though) and my wife and I will be bartending their get together sat night on the flagship

 

I will be at the show on Saturday for sure. I am pretty certain I will be at Snapka's on Friday also.

 

Sounds good, I should be there too maybe If I ever get a freakin rental, Ill take it down a back street and burn the rubber off the damn thing

 

We will be there, thinking about taking my sedan for the unfinished class...............but not for sure yet..........

 

come on down, I have been eye ballin that rpu u have up for sale, but I'd be gettin divorced if I bought it. Besides after totaly my truck(not by my choice) I have to pinch pennies for a while. I'll be there with my HAMB shirt on, or my I'M SHY shirt y'all can read the small print if I wear it >

 

Hey, we will look for ya..... I will be wearing a black honkies muscle shirt.(my favorite shirt) We will be in a 30 model flat black truck.

Oh I called about the rooms at Holiday Inn where the show is.
With the discount they are 119.00 a night.................ouch.........
I think we are only going to go Friday night, its just not in the budget for two nights, my gosh..........119.00 including discount.....

 

Yeah, I guess I'll go....of course. BBMama there are a bunch of new hotels along Padre Island Drive now. You should be able to get a pretty nice room for less than $80. Check the Hamptons Inn, etc.
The Coastal A's show is really the best event in CC. The fun starts at the Holiday Inn and everyone cruizes down to Snapka's on Friday night. Snapka's is on the same street as the HI, a couple miles down, so you can't get lost. It is a lot of fun if your thinking about coming down. I wish the A was done but, my schedule has been shreaded this year and the wiring harness is not done. Anyway, hope to see everyone there.

We went to this show year before last and had a blast, as a matter of fact that is where we met Jeremy.

Many of the hot rodders from McAllen or its surrounding area attend the show. It's usually during the Memorial Day Weekend. Everyone has a great time.

If we make it to the show this weekend, I'll keep an eye out for other HAMBERs.

By the way, it seems there's a Friday night cruise at one of the burger joints.

Can anyone help advertise the burger joint and its location for the rest of the participants???

 

Rio Grande Deuce. Snapkas is just a couple of miles down Leopard from the Holiday Inn. If you exit the hotel on the LEOPARD side(not the freeway side) go right towards down town corpus, and it will be about 2 miles down to your left. you cant miss it, there will be tons of rods, and muscle cars, bikes and all that jazz.... if ya get lost give me a hollar. I am not sure where I'll be, but free directions anytime 361-249-6633 I sure hope to meet more HAMB'r's As corpus is my hometown

I'll be down there with my crew from Lockhart/Austin area. I'm cruising in the big diesel daily because I have to take a trailer back to my dad, but maybe we'll take one of his cars out for the weekend. See ya'll down there.

Oh yeah, Jen, look at the hotels in Calallen area (northwest) as I'm sure they are cheaper than anything closer to town. I know Trey doesn't care where he sleeps but there really isn't any trashy hotels out in Calallen area and it's only 10-15 minutes from Snapkas.

The Kreatures will be in attendance. Got an invite to pinstripe at the show, and we'll definitely be at Snapka's on Friday night. We couldn't make it last year because we were playing in Houston, but I'm not gonna let this one get past me. Should be a good weekend!

 

BBmama, did you guys have a flat black pickup that was chopped and I think channeled. The dude I talked to had a pony tail and was real nice when I talked to him and said he was from Victoria. That was a nice little truck.

 

Snapkas is the place to be on friday night! Can't wait. For those of you traveling from Victotia or Houston, ------- Portland has three nice motel with fair rates. And they are about 15 minutes from Sapkas. Not only that you can blow the cob-web's out on Nueces Bay causeway that night. Don't be afraid

 

Local weather douche bags are predicting rain all weekend. Perfect. Corpus gets one good car show a year, and it's gonna freakin' rain. Go figure.

Boy is that going to suck, I am taking the roadster, and Trays truck doesn't have side windows..............Oh well, it isn't going to stop us.......

 

Ya'll don't worry about the weather. We have the worst weathermen in the country. I just wanted to throw out another item on the agenda for this weekend in Corpus Christi. The Los Lonely Boys are playing at the Concrete Street Amphitheater on Saturday night at 7:00PM and tickets are $24. Everybody in Texas knows the LLBs and they really like coming to CC and put on a hell of a show.

 

I really didn't care for those guys much, until I saw them live at Willy's picnic a few years back. They do put on a great show! And yeah, I know Aman....We do have the worst weathermen in the country. It was supposed to rain all weekend at the Round-Up as well, and it was gorgeous. Let's hope for the same turn out.

 

THE LOS LONELY BOYS are you kidding me. Lets stay focused here its about the cars. Just kidding.

 

Well, it has been raining on and off here in victoria all day.
We got a room for two nights at the Holiday Inn after all. Hell that will be like staying at the Ritz compared to the place we stayed at in Austin..........LOL .......We are leaving here at 5:00 sharp, I sure hope we can get parking by the time we get there (snapkas)..........And I hope I am not drenched...............

Hey heartaches, I'm glad to see that you'll be going. I saw you laying down some paint a Snapka's a few weeks ago when the wind was blowing about 40 mph and your work looked great. Can't wait to see you paint without the 40 mph cross wind. Sounds like it's going to be a good show. Everyone be safe....party on!

 

Ok guys I just saw this thread - going thru a divorce and need to get out for the weekend, what a godsend!

Just need some directions / physical address to mapquest something .....

If you are leaving Victoria at 5 their is no way you will get parking at Snapka's . I got there at like 4:30 last month and got one of the last spots. People leave throughout the night, so you should be able to get a spot eventually.

 

If you are coming up 77 just take 37 towards Corpus and exit on Navagation. Turn right on Navagation then left on Leopard and Snapkas is about 1 mile down the road on the left. It will start on Friday about 5 o'clock.
