What are some options for suspension upgrades for a 1950 Plymouth sedan? Its there a MII kit? Disc brake adapters for the stock stuff? A late model frame that will swap? Maybe a clip? A buddy just picked up a 50 and he is looking for the cheapest way to get it rolling. He has a /6 and 904 that will be added for power
I was going to put a Fatman clip on my 1949 Dodge but I found out that they are designed for two door cars and won't work on a four door.

Cheapest way to get it rollin is to use what's there. Nothing wrong with the stock suspension. Really good design except for where the shocks mount. There is a shock relo kit available from fatman. I'm rebuilding the frontend on my 47 dodge coupe and gonna relocate the shock mount.
Hunh? '49 to '52 Dodge Coronet and Meadowbrook all use the same frame, suspension, springs, front sheetmetal, brakes, etc. etc. The Meadowbrook was a four door sedan only, but the Coronet had a club coupe, a 6 p***enger ragtop, a two door hardtop, a station wagon, and a four door. If Fatman's clip will fit a two door Coronet, it'll fit a four door Coronet. On the other hand, Dodge also produced the Wayfarer in those years, available only in 3 two door body styles. Shorter wheelbase than the Coronet. Same front sheetmetal, mostly the same suspension components. Might be possible there's a difference there that Fatman's hasn't overcome. I'd hit 'em up again, give 'em this info, see what they say about the two door vs. four door then
Just do what I did 20 years ago (damn that makes me sound OLD!) before stuff was available.... Heat the coils up front till it sits right! Out back add lowering blocks. Sure it will bump, thump (and squeek...the coils broke) but He sure will look cool! Well, as cool as you can look drivin' a '50 Plymouth sedan...LOL!!! Man I gotta get my old Mayflower back on the road!
I am planning on rebuilding my '51, want to use Eaton or Speedway springs, ECI disc kit (bolt on according to them), and Fatman or Hot Rod and Custom lowering uprights. There are options...still trying to figure them out. Currently lowered with heat and blocks.
i've ran two of these cars with fatman dropped uprights with the stock drums. who told you you have to upgrade to disks?
I have the fatman frame stub on my '49 wayfarer and love it, but it's pricey. I don't see anything wrong with using the front suspension, as there are lots of parts made to upgrade it. There used to be a '50 coronet running around the northwest with an s-10 clip on it. It seemed to fit really well.
I subframed mine with a gm camaro/nova sub. If I ever do it again, I would use the s-10 front stub because its narrower.
