There is an obscure event that happens every year here in Southern cal.
It's called the Vintage Vacations trailer rally, and I try to make it every year.
It's a great way to spend a day in Orange County, Newport Beach to be exact, which is kinda of the Beverly Hills of Orange County, and normally I would'nt spend much time there, but they do have a really nice RV park in wich to house this fine event.
It's put on every year by an old friend of mine, Craig Dorsry, you can find out more about him and the event here: www.vintage-vacations.com
Here are a few pics, and a link to my photobucket account with a bunch more pics. Enjoy.

...they had the vintage trailer club at one of the last Alameda swap meets. you can't fully appreciate them until you step inside and look at the real wood paneling and details. good people too.

  6. ...'38 Ford Woody towing a vintage trailer through Yosemite or Big Sur national forest? Camped out beneath 300ft redwoods. How much cooler can it get? Thanks for the pics.
Florida has no shortage of abandoned vintage trailers, only thing is I'm afraid of what might be growing or living inside.
I like this big Sparten, has about as much room as my 1 bdrm apartment! Needs a 1ton truck to tow it!

That wide tapered tail tiny window rear view is very similar to an early Airstream. Amazingly, for many years not a block from the Downtown Houston Courthouse and Police Station there was one of these trailers in very restorable shape, about a 20ftr, sitting in a vacant lot!
It disappeared about 2-3 years ago.

Any more info on the Woody? Looks just like the one my dad owned that ended up in Cali. If it's the same one, glad to see it at such a cool event. Thanks for the photos!

Great pics! Thanks for sharing! I've been looking for one for a while. Seems like a lot of the small classic trailers are on the left coast. Any leads on a clean, reasonable camper in the midwest?

    Thanks BG for the pics.
I've helped out the funky junk farms guys on some
of there trailers. (actually more for stephen)
Was able to appreciate and understand the rarity of some of those things.
    And there obsessiveness!

Am I crazy, or do all of the photos have a layer of animated sparkling green flake over them ...???

They certainly do on my monitor.

EDIT: Ignore me. Something is going on with my monitor.

Bobby, thanks for the photos. Lots of neat things there.

At the Jalopy Showdown in PA this weekend, it seemed as though half of the people attending had vintage trailers.

    Love those old trailers.

Still kicking myself for not picking up an early50's bondwood caravan at a garage sale a few years back. Exterior was pretty rough, but the interior was mint original.

No where to keep one now:(

Axel, While it looks very similar to a Bowlus papoose, it's actually a mystery trailer. It looks like someone hand built it to look like a Bowlus.
Check out the interior shots. It's amazing!!! Lot's of brass work.

PS, Post a pic pf your Aroad.

What brand or what type was that big Trailer that Rickki and Lucy used in their movie ( not sure of the name ). Looked big for a 50's thing.

I thought for sure that was a Bowlus !

I bought my trailer during VLV and my friend is storing it at his home in Vegas. Going to pick it up next week.

Finding any pre war trailers is rare these days. I'll post pics as soon as i get it.

You wouldn't be talking about an airstream that was sitting off of main street in the vacant lot next to the continental club would you? Because I'm helping one of the owners of the club fix it up, he just moved it into the yard behind the club a couple of years back because it got vandalized more than once in the lot.
