I know they came in Pontiacs in '67 and '68. Same as a Chevy six.

I believe the 230 came out in 1963 to replace the 235. It was a 194 in the Chevy II

My 67 GMC Van had one also. They seem to run forever.

The Pontiac 230-6 was a single overhead cam six, about the only Chevy parts that interchange are the crank and rods. Later a 250 cube version was built, the Pontiac OHC-6 was discontinued altogether after the '69 model year.

    The Pontiac 215 offered in '64 -'65 was essentially a cam-in-block Chevy 230 six with a Pontiac-specific bore size, 3.750" for the 215 vs 3.875" for the 230.

My chilton book shows 65 as being the first year.for the novas. And i have owned them all from 62-70 and i have never came across a 230 in any before 65. But Date codes/Casting numbers may show differently I hope these casting numbers help.(3788406) 62-69 3850817 62-78 being 230 or 250
