I found a real cool hand crank wrecker unit at a retired mechanic repair shop. The owner sold it to me but I had to buy the whole truck. It was a 51 Ford F1 with a flathead V8. Got the truck running after sitting for years and we are giving it a mild custom redo. So I mount the wrecker unit on the frame of this 1919 Dodge Brothers touring car which runs perfect and presto, I have a handy dandy outift for moving my junk around. The unit appears to be homemade but really works good and is properly geared to allow for easy hand cranking. I will use it around here and now have a good parade rig too. It's all just for fun.
Considering the principles of leverage, keep your loads light! I think I will make a copy of the 2nd picture and paint an oil painting. That is one cool picture. Would you have any objections to that?
anyone want this one?? late 30s early 40s chevy wrecker. missing the fenders. was a hotrod hauler for sure(cuz i took the hood off it with the "hotrods of milwaukee" sticker!) love the teardrop light on top and the crane. the doors used to say something you can barely make it out though.
That's a pto driven winch that works off an auxillary transmission. Way too modern for me. Next thing you know, someone will invent an electric winch or something.
haha theres a 57 chevy 2 ton dually with a HUGE ****ing boom arm winch. at the same junk yard, im thinking it was for construction. i dont see how anyone could drive it under any bridges though.....
nothing a little weight on the front of the dodge wouldn't take care of, maybe some old tractor weights
I guess this would be a good time to admit that the jalopy I am towing in the photos does not have an engine or ****** and weighs very little. I towed it around like a little rag doll. I like the tractor weights idea if I lift something heavy. But I do have a forklift for that kind of stuff.
