Thanks 'FASI'....as you can see I'm really fond of your car! What are these teeth anyway? I knew at one time, but now I can't recall.

    Beautiful job, by the way.

    Awesome touch, and well done!

I was curious about that pocket collecting dirt, dust water, etc... Did you build a drain hole into that? Is one needed do you think?

Great job! I have a similar question as Elrod, as I despise rust and try to think of any long term way of avoiding rust. Will you put in a drain hole (or do you think that it will just get water coming in from the wheel well? I was thinking that (for those who do this later) the slope of the bottom of the pocket could run from the rear to the front, so that any moisture will drain back out without having to put in a drain hole. I know this is just picky ****, but just a thought for those doing this next time. Not to detract from a really cool mod!

With the side trim, it really dresses up the car!

That is exactly what I did! You can't tell from the pictures, but the scoop insert is set into the car at enough of an angle to create a back to front downward slope, so that water will run out the front edge if the car is sitting still. If the car is moving, the air moving into the scoop should create a bit of a "blow dryer" effect and dry out the inside.

It'll probably collect some road grime regardless, but it'll just have to be cleaned when the car is washed.

I didn't want to take the opening all the way back into the wheelwell, because it would then collect brake dust, and mud or rocks or whatever else the tire would throw into it.

I am however considering making the scoop functional to feed some fresh air into either the rear p***enger compartment or back into the trunk to the air compressors for the air-ride. It would be fairly easy to add a tube into the top of the pocket and either route it into a vent in the rear interior panel, or into the trunk.

Anyway, thanks for bringing that up...it's a detail I inadvertently left out of the intial post.

You might want to call Frank Livingston before you do that. He left them open in one of his Fleetlines, and it took him a while to figure out why his headliner kept flapping when he was driving.. even with the windows up!

Really nice work, though. This is already a real nice car.

I've been contemplating a scoop on my '51 project for some time now. That is ***-bustin' great . I don't care for the teeth, but I think I'll go w/some lighting in the scoop for nights. They say imitation is the most sincere form of flattery. I think a lot of us w/be flattering you, Bro. Really great job, and a superb job of do***enting it. Keep up the good work...Ole Pork
