I just finsihed my first entire flame job on my friend 51 Plymouth with a good amount of help from my cuzins Merc-o-Madness and TheSupersized and my friend Sonim38. I masked the flames a couple days before go for a thin whispy style with a sort of panel style. Tell me watcha think. I put a little pearl in the paint just to give a slight shimmer. It still has needs to be pinstriped and cleaned up a bit. What a pain in the ass to mask!
pain in the ass, huh? came out bitchin tho. when you plan shit like that out and spend FOREVER on prep it comes out nice. good job matt
good job,,,you are right about the masking being a pain in the ass,,i flamed my 51 ford,,,,,,i did seaweed style flames on the hood, roof, decklid, and a few licks running down the sides,,,i spent 17 hours laying them out and masking them,,,and about an hour painting them....
Damn i seen your car at lead east looks bad ass! I have a 53 chevy im still contemplating what to do on it. I was thinking seaweed style but then i saw a 50 ford that Watson did with the flames looking like thier blown in the wind. I just love his style the 57 buick he did is just rediculous!
thanks,,,the car lives in finland now (sold it),,,im wanting to do another seaweed flame job,,if you decide to go that way with the chevy and you want some help, give me a shout,,
sweet but thats not for a while i got lotsss of body work to do before that is even a consideration haha
A roll of 1/8" blue masking tape and some 6" paper would have made your masking go a whole lot faster. Id never have the patience to use that much tape. You did an awesome job though. I say gloss black on the pinstripe.
That looks sharp. I kinda cheated a little when I did my Hood I useda Bead roller to imboss the flames into my hood. And will alsodo them in paint should give a Nice 3D kinda look.
