that's an outstanding chop, excellent proportions. Just enough to tighten up the shapes. What brand/type of paint is that? Looks almost like blueing agent...

Worked out fine. The important thing is that the roof sits like a real chopped top should..Not that Cali rat rod sloper look. Most importantly, the backlite meets the beltline as it should unlike so many others...WELL DONE.I cant wait to see all the window trim back on with the vent windows fuctional as Im sure I will.

You guys are doing well enough down there with the 4 doors.I think some guy posted a killer chop on a 53 or 4 a few months back. His back window looked perfect too.

Yep, that's definitely right. I'm saving this for future reference on my 53 small window sedan. I also really dig the colour. Good stuff.

    Hey Sam,
    Looking good man.
Those pics I posted were of my mate Wes's (WAK53) car, I was only one of a few that cut on that 53.

I agree. It looks great! Your car seems to be one of the harder body styles to get the proportions right on..... But you did perfect!

I have seen very few 49-52 sedans that I like the chop on, but yours came out perfect. It makes me want to chop mine now. Thanks for the inspiration.

,,i ran out of wire and cut off wheels,,,...so i had to stop..just when i was getting in the rythem tonight,,:D,,i guess thats o.k. since it gave me a lil break to sit back and check it out,,,its always good to stop and look before you go any further sometimes,,,

i reshaped the belt line again a lil more to get a better flow below the beltline and to be able to run the stainless belt molding ,,,,then I started making filler sections for where i extended the catwalk,,i dont have an english wheel(or even know anyone who has one locally ) so i used my SPANISH WHEEL(tm) to shape the patterns,,

... you might be able to tell,,,but the corner section(the swoosh) is just propped up in there to get an idea of the FLOW...,,,

..i'll be honest with ya,,,early into the chop,,i was thinking the back window would be the hardest,,,but i believe the catwalk area is much more challenging!:D,,just time though,,:D

,,maybe its just me,,but one thing i am digging,,is that it makes the trunk and rear quarters look kinda extended,,were as you wouldnt get that with one with the backlite in stock place and severly laded.......CHEERS!

dammit sam, you must be a mind reader!

see, a few weeks back when you were askin for info on chopping these cars, i emailed you one hint, but i was holdin out on ya! i guess you read my mind, cause the REAL hot tip i didn't want to share till i whacked my current ride is moving the beltline forward like you did. like malcolm said above, these cars just don't look right with the back window laid down like most chops are done. i guess i'll have to chop mine some other wrong way so everybody doesn't say i have a "**** reynolds chop"!:D

    anyway, lookin good man.

can you snap any close up pics of the rear beltline area?

Man that chop looks right on, great work. One question though, how do you get anything done in your garage? It's too neat and tidy to be doing that kind of work in there! Mine looks like a bomb went off in it. I relate it to the saying; "a clean and organized work bench is the sign of a sick mind".
Keep up the great work and update your progress, this is one we all want to watch!

Ray,,i didnt get a chance to snap a pic,
...,i was trying to mow the yard tonight and the push mower decided not to start,,then i got it started,,then i hit a stump and it quit, then i tried to start it,,wouldnt start again,,then the pull rope broke, went back to the hardware store i was just at about an hour earlier picking up migwire and cuttoff wheels,,put the rope in,,then it finally started, mowed a lil bit more ,then it quit again! hahahaha :D by this time it was dark,, so i headed into the garage to clean it up for the weekend...will get you a pic this weekend..

believe me,,it does get messed up in there, :D,, so bad that i have to stop what im doing cuz im either tripping over everything or cant find anything,,:D
...when i worked for my uncle he would always emphasize that a clean work area makes the job go so much smoother,,and its true,,when ever things start going sour,,i just stop, clean up everything then maybe walk away from the garage for a bit,,then go back at it,,

If that thing is a "BEATER", I don't know what to call my '52 anymoe... maybe just BEAT!

Looks really, really good. I know it's been said a dozen or so times on this thread, but I concur, the proportions and flow look absolutely tasteful.

    Looking forward to future posts!

Sam, you have lofted the window all wrong. You'll never get it into OSR that way.
