Here are some pictures of a mock up of my '56 Desoto motor with the Eelco 6x2 aluminum intake manifold. This is the latest version of Marty's intake. This is the latest design to clear the distributor. I'm currently waiting on a cam regrind to start ***embling the motor. All the other machine work is done and I have all the rebuild parts. I am going to add fuel injection bungs to the intake and use a Megasquirt computer to control the fuel and ignition. I will use 4 gutted 94's for the throttle bodies and a Mopar electronic distributor for ignition. I have a wilcap adapter setup and a TKO600 5-speed trans to go on it. I will be putting this in my 50 Merc. I have an 8 inch rear end and will probably put 3.55 gears in it. I will be setting up a disk front brake setup on the car. I am looking forward to getting this together. Billk
I ***ume if it fits a '56 330, this will work for a 341/345 too. When are these going to be available? Oh, in case I didn't mention it, SHA-WING.
I was one of the people to sign up early and put a deposit on the manifold before it was prototyped. I kept in touch with Marty and got one of the very first shots. There were a few problems and Marty took care of them. It took a good long while to get my manifold but I don't see anyone else stepping up making casting patterns. I'm very happy to get this because, as you should know, Desoto performance manifolds are hard to come by. The EELCO manifold will work on any of the Desoto motors. i'm not picking up my 46 from storage until tomorrow. but i have the intake with 6 large number 97's and one of eelco's finned valley covers ready to go. i originally approached marty with the idea of making these. yeah, it was a long wait. it was also frustrating to hear about the distributor clearence problems. but in the end, it was worth it. my first computer has a dent in it from a punch i threw because it slowed and wouldn't allow my bid to go through on the only desoto 6x2 i ever saw on ebay.
it's a very nice casting. marty does them in house now. go to the eelco website. i think he has plans for a chrysler 3x2. offy still makes a 3x2 for the dodge hemi.
Very nice piece. Looks good on your engine. I guess the gears are turning for a Caddy tri-power. I can't wait.
A fuel injected Chrysler just like you are doing. The injectors are under the logs with the fuel rails running in the valley. The TPS is hidden by the fake fuel log for the 94s
