I got this first pic on the HAMB.

Before I knew I would get to work on it.

When it got here I took some time looking at it.

Most of the Floor and Firewall missing, the middle of the K-Member torched out, and a couple of other things that needed attention...

    OK...

These next couple of pics are going to hurt.

But we had to do it.

Eventhough it already was an awesome car, it needed a little more safety to be useble.

And you'll see in the next couple of Posts that I tried really hard to not mess with the coolness of this Timewarp Machine....

A buddy of mine took the Frame.
Put it in his Jig, straigtened it, repaired the cracks, and boxed it.

After that, I put the Body back on.

After the Body was on, I put the Engine and Gearbox back in.
And I made a new Front Engine Mount.

The old ones were only bolted to the sides with 1 big Bolt each, and there was a lot of flex in them.

Then I replaced the middle of the K-Member with new steel.

I made the pieces out of 1/8" sheet that I folded and bent ( part on my Pullmax, the rest by heating them and Hammering them in shape...)

The shape is different from a stock '32 K-Member, because it needed to clear the LaSalle Gearbox.
And I also made pads on it to mount the Bellhouse mounts on, and the Rear Suspension pivots on it...

The Drivers Side front leg of the K-Member is different too, so I could bolt a '39 Pedal Set onto it.

The Front Suspension went back in, pretty much the way it was.

Except, I put new bungs on the Cut 'Bones for new Tie Rod Ends, and new mounts on the Ch***is.

The Steering was replaced with an old Ford Cross Steer setup, and a Panhard Bar.

I reused the Shocks that were on it.

The Rear Suspension needed a little more work.

The '36 Bones were welded to the Axle, and kinked in the middle so they could mount to the underside of the Frame.

I welded a couple of Pads to the Axle so the Replacement '36 'Bones can be unbolted.

I also made a reenforcement bar out of Tie Rod Tube to strengthen them ( doesn't show up in the pics... Sorry.)

New Shocks, and I made a new Push Bar.

I also cut up a Model T Ch***is to use as extra reenforcements from the center of the K-Member to the insides of the Ch***is ( just in front of the kick Up...)

The exhaust Pipes the Car came with had the two closest to the Firewall cut off and modified for clearence.

So I made a new pipe for each side that would clear the Cowl, and still be the same length as the other ones.

I did this by Sand Bending them ( I did a Thead about that, incase you want to see more...)

To have a set that was useble on the Street, I made a set that swept down as well.
    ( also Sand Bent)

    This set has removeble Baffles...

And after that, I could put the Floor in.

I measured the pattern on the Trunk Floor of my own 5W ( that isn't Channeled ), and I made a Die to copy the big Bead that forms the big squares.
the smaller X-Patterns I did with my Beadroller...

The hump over the ****** and Bellhouse area is double curve.

I did that with a Shot Bag, Kick Shrinker, and English Wheel...

Then I made the Door Panels, Kick Panels, 1/4 Panels, and mounted the Seats

Headlight Mounts ( modified Model A Headlight Bar ), Generator Mount, Carburator Linkage, Radiator Support, etc...

If that Generator looks smaller than usual, it is...

Excellent Job on a cool old hotrod. The car was a bit scary when I looked at it, now it's perfect! !
I'll have to do the same on my channeled one, thanks.

Great job in keeping the original feel to it while bringing it up to realistic levels of safety. Great craftsmanship, of course.

I love the way you reworked the exhaust that was on it. I fell in love with this car the first time I saw it at the Pileup. Glad to see it has been shown some love!
