thanks for the props folks! the hardtail is by david bird - you can contact him via jockeyjournal. he also makes complete triumph frames to your specs. mine is a 4" stretch with 2.5" drop. as for the plate... i rode the bike over 1000 miles last summer with no plate at all during the preliminary build because i was waiting for my title to come in the mail. i had insurance though. never a problem. i had several cops come talk to me about the bike because they loved it. ive already passed several cops with the bike now that its totally complete with the plate how it is & they just smile & give me the thumbs up. i wanted to run the plate like this since it sort of reminds me of a race bike's number plate. flat trackers & salt flat bikes all seem to have thier plates in that spot. plus it hides my ugly brake light switch. nice pics hatch & sam!

you could say that bike build turned out to be a complete triumph!! (thats' gotta be the worst pun ever read on the hamb,i know lol) Those sacrifices were definately worth it,i mean you coulda spent all that cash n time on beers n women,n all you'd have then would be a probable expanded waistline,a hangover n maybe a nasty rash yours was definately the way to go,that is a KILLER bike dude,all respect to ya
Awesome bikes guys!! Im just starting to get the Triumph itch too, but I've never owned one. What years are theses bikes?? What model if any? Itll help me narrow down my search a bit when looking for one. Thanks a lot!

haha - yeah man - thanks again my bike is a bunch of different years. surprisingly it didnt come out looking like the hodge podge bastard it really is. the motor is a mix of a 67 & a 69. frame is a 70, hardtail (new) custom, rear wheel - mid/late 60s, front end is a 71 - dropped 3" with norton boots, tank is a late 60s skinny bonnie. the most attainable/easy to build triumph projects are 63-70s. unit motor, lots of new aftermarket parts available, still look rad, etc. pre 63 you get into the pre-units which are a little more rare & pricey, post 70 you get into the oil in frame versions with the fat spine (oil tank built into the frame) they can be made cool too but its a little more work. 63-70s you can basically bolt on whatever hardtail you like.
I'm glad you posted. I have been looking at a lot of bike design for inspiration for my roadster project. Lean and functional with a touch of flash on the tank. I like it fine.
You nailed the look on that one, that's for sure. So much so, that I'm gonna go over to E-bay after this post and see what kind of British bikes are out there for sale right now.
