And the latest issue of Rod & Custom (August '07) has a feature on how to crimp connectors. Good write up and nice how-to-do-it pictures, also pictures of the tools needed such as wire strippers and the good quality ratcheting crimpers. They don't tackle the soldering issue though...
Would be great if they would post this article on their website so everybody can see.

I've been doing wiring for something like 30 years--was a G.M. master tech in electrcal--so I use the Bundy crimp connectors--the best I think. I don't solder wire---constant vibration and heat cycling breaks down solder--I do solder AND crimp battery cables--more m*** for the solder to work into. I always either strip of the junk plastic covering or use non-insulated connectors with heat-shrink--looks better, too. But any connector is OK---the crimper is the most important thing--I use Belden crimpers--gettin hard to find, but never had a connector come off after I crimp em on with my Belden's.
But I'm a sick *******--all I check out on cars is the wiring----

I recently did the same thing. Rewired a bunch of accessories (Wideband 02, AFR Guage, Ignition components) into a fused panel.
