The rear doors on my 37 Terraplane were suicide already but wanted hidden hinges, used early 50's F-100 hinges, only about 8" apart but strong enough to hold the door.

You want to suicide all 4 doors, or just the front 2?

FWIW - suicide rear doors and normal front doors are referred to as
    "kissing doors".

just the rear. reason being i chopped the top and it is a pain in tthe *** to get in the back. i think if the doors opened the other way it would be easier.

  8. I did mine, not a four door, but the procedure would be the same. Post a photo of the hinges you have, I may be able to help you figure it out. Check my thread below in the green letters. It's not a step-by-step, but may be of some use.

Thanks Richard D. i will take a better picture tomorrow. the kit you have in the pics is the same i have. the problem i am haveing is with the contour of the rear 1/4 panel carries over into the inside of the door where the hinges need to mount. its not straight up and down. you can see the bodyline on the right of the picture. its like the hinges would have to be mounted in the wheel well.?

  10. You may be able to cut the vertical tube that connects the hinges, putting them closr together. But that door looks pretty heavy, adn the further apart the hinges are, the better. Plus, I'm afraid the bulge where the door meets the rear fender will give you problems. You really need a factory-type hinge with more of a deep C-shape that will swing the door away a good distance from the body to provide clearance for that hump. The hinge kit I used, and which you apparently also have, is for doors with a fairly flat profile.

You might just have to rethink your hinges. Possibly add some metal between the pivot and where it turns. You want the pivot as close to the outside of the body as possible.
