Just wanted to see what your absolute mandatory colors on particular cars are for me: 3w coupes=black 5w coupes=dark blue T Coupe=white t roadster=red a roadster=dark green Carson topped custom=deep maroon So on and so forth...
Copper, blue, orange, green, purple, lime gold, etc. TOO MANY black and red cars out there. And there's more great/new colors by the day being available
There is no such thing as an "absolute mandatory color" IMO. I like more off beat colors and find them to garner more attention because they are different and they are more interesting. Besides mandatory colors stiffle uniqueness. Imagine how boring things would be if you went to a show with 50 3 windows and everyone painted their 3 window black. YAWN.......
hahhaa!,,,,yeah , ....but yes,,you got to remeber,,,i did my '56 180 degrees opos***e what EVERYBODY was doing at the time,,people hated me cuz i did a 'tri five chevy that way' and when that style(bellflower) became so 'trendy' and people finally started customizine these cars again(and i got tired of it),i wanted to go back and mess up things again,,,,,,i enjoy it,,,its actually even more fun now ****ing with the perfectionist tri-five guys...they didnt get as iritated with a flaked out chevy cuz they thought it was just wierd...i guess,,,,but it really seems to bother them now with a red & white chevy on hydro's ,,that makes them upset,,hahhaha .........and mmmmm... CHRISTINE! ....but for real tho,,,,,**** the rules,,,, ,....be a LEADER,,,not a FOLLOWER.....
A very extraordinary color which is not often seen is the late 40s Plymouth color "Cruiser Maroon". A slightly different shade of maroon which looks fabulous with the reveals around the windows painted a jet black for contrast.
That don't work for me at all. When I'm doin' acid all that happens is I see the world in vivid black and white Every car has its own color from where I sit, maybe coupe #1 looks good in black but coupe # 2 needs to be blurple. Its a personality thing that's why I tell everyone that buys a driver to drive it a bit before decideing what to do with it.
Paint The Damn Car What Ever Color You Want. Why Does Everything Have To Have Rules Now Days. If It Looks Good Do It. If It Doesn't Look Good And You Like It...do It Anyways.....
My dad used to tell me that most '57 Chevies he remembered were painted that metallic bronze color when they were new... Now they are all red, aqua or black... O/T but did the big 3 even paint cars in another color besides dark green in 1968? Teal in 1990? Burnt Orange in 2005?
I was looking at someone's website and saw 14 pages of black roadsters with red wheels, Worked for me. This is hot rodding, no rules. DW
All I know is when my friends and I went to Vegas this weekend, we looked like a bunch of easter eggs rolling down the 15. Lets see, we have Peach, Lt Blue, Dk Blue/Silver, Baby Yellow, Shocking Yellow, Teal, Pearl White, Red, Red/White, Grey, Black/Blue. And those are only the ones that went, not the ones that stayed home. Lets just say, we don't blend. And I think the color of your car should be what you want, not what others pick for you. Your car and the color are an extension of you and your personalty.
I seem to think to stay away from white unless it's for a firewall. A 56 Chevy would also look good two-toned with a banana (cream/tan) color. I guess for the tri-5's an off white would be ok, just not arctic white. my.02
My 55 Chevy has a Wimbleton White (Ford) roof with the Peach body. Now on the other hand our 57 Convertable is GM white (eye burning white) and I think its really elegant in that color. With the Silver/Red interior and all that chrome you do need some sungl***es to look at it.
I don't know if all (one kind of car) should be this color and all (another kind of car) should be that color, but all of my cars screamed out a color before I painted them. Alot of people have said they were trying to decide what color to paint their car but I've never had that problem, if I get started on one I already know what I want it to look like and what color I'm going to make it. BTW My '57 was that gold color originally, then it was repainted red, and white on top of that. The white is slowly flaking off to reveal the red underneath. It's going to be red with a white top when the new paint goes on.
I presently have 6 insured and licensed cars (way too many). They are all black except the wife's STREET ROD which is fushia and BLACK. I think I see a trend developing here (or no imagination ) Frank
