I've got a chance to change out a 318 poly in a 64 Polara(sweet ride). I've found a 413 but I'm not sure if the bellhousing on the trans will work. The 413 has a 727 with it but it's not for the push ****on shift and that has got to stay. Can the parts for the shift be transfered to the newer style 727 if the bellhousings are different?
i have absolutly no idea but the guys i deal with are genius' with the old mopars. goggle search NATIONAL MOPARTS,they're in ontario, canada.these guys seem to know the rarest of the rare stuff.try to talk to nigel if you can,hes easier to deal with.ive got a 68 polara and these guys have helped me out numerous times.hopefully this helps you out.
318 Poly is an A block - different bellhousing pattern than a B or RB like your 413 has. Also the trans case for the push****on shifter is different than the linkage style Torqueflite. You need a '64 or earlier aluminum Torqueflite for a B or RB - 361, 383, 413, 426.
Thanks, that's the info I was looking for. I was afraid that was the case but wanted to be sure. Now if I can find a trans I'll be good to go.
