Yup another Asto supreme question, mostly tire size question though.

Well I just joined the bandwagon and ordered up some 15x7 supremes for my new daily ride, a slightly HAMB unfriendly land yacht, 1967 Plymouth fury III four door (I would have much perfered a 64 impala, or delta 88 but HEY it was $500 bucks and MINT from a little ole lady). One question that seems like it might never have been asked is,.........what size tire would lend the correct look for a large bellflower style ride?

Now keep in mind this is NOT a question about which is better, radial or bias..... and no I am not considering bias at all for the daily :D.

I am looking at using a radial narrow white wall from Hankook as they are CHEAP http://www.hankooktireusa.com/product/tire_detail.asp?pid=40. I have a set on my 54 chevy and couldnt be happier. Off the bat I was thinking a 205/65-15, what are your guys thoughts, what are you guys using for sizes on your cars (15x7 rims)?

Actually I was thinking of a less meaty tire, 195/65-15?

I am going to these as well, 15x7's w 60 series tires, but if you are going to run a narrow tire like that you should have gotten 15x6's, 7's call for a minimum of a 70 series tire. 75-65 series will FIT but look strange w the sidewall coming IN towards the tread instead of flat or slightly bulged out as it should be. Also keep in mind that a lot of us from the 60-70's found out fast that deep dish reversed rims are MURDER on ball joints-so limited use/NEW ball joints are a must, loose a lower ball joint at 60MPH and you will know what I mean -Jahu

On Mikes its 195 60 15 front, 255 60 15 on back, billets tho , I'll be using the same on Astro's 15x7 front's w 15x8's on back I do not have my astro's yet, so here's his w the billets (he's changing his too), you see how the tire only has a slight bulge + more or less strt out from the rim ? This what you want you will get a weird wear pattern if you use to wide a rim and will be a bit darty if your front end is worn a bit. Too wide a tire can be just as bad and hard on a side wall. For the best handling and wear, tire tread width should be within 1 inch of the rim width either way .

    Thanks gasRus,

I was looking for more information on what the bellflower guys would use, not so much a pro stock machine.

It looks like Im going to go with a 205/70-15 narrow white wall as it seems like it would look best.

I have a 1977 Ford Thunderbird. I'm runnin' P205/75R 15 tires on my daily driver I'm happy with the tire size although a little lower wouldn't hurt.

the 70 series will work just fine , I think it really depends on the tire maker look at his Tbird, the tires are exactly as i described

    205/70/15's

I tried to find 195/70/15's. Nobody makes them anymore. The homies at San Fernando Tire called up every tire shop in the SFV and nobody even had old stock 195's.

195 would be great I thought at first but couldn't visualize the difference. I have 205/70-15 mounted on the 54 chevy on stock rims and it looks great for having steelies, they do bubble out a bit on the side wall like the rim is pinching them in a bit at the bead (although it is a stock 6" wide wheel).

It looks as though the narrowest the hankook's go in 15's is 205 (I get dealer pricing on those so I was trying to stick with that brand).

    I appreciate the pics guys!
