The theif might be lucky not to be found by the owner. If that was my truck and found the guy first I probably would just drive away and when the cops came I would play stupid and say, I was wondering why the guy was leaning against my truck.

A fellow club member was telling me last night about a kid a couple of streets below him that had the habit of stealing gas,,

The guy next door to him got hit twice by this kid and he decided to get even,,,,he went out and bought a new 5 gallon gas can and put 3 gallons of gas in it along with a pound of Dixie Crystal sugar mixed in for good measure,,,and left it next to the lawnmower,,,,

It took about a week before he missed it,,,,,

It seems that the kid that he thought that was the person stealing the gas has had some kind of problem with his truck and it has been sitting in his parents side yard for a few monhs now,,,,,HRP

    He now k

I remember a news story from years ago where someone tried to steal gas from a motor home
seems the perp syphoned from the waste reservoir of the chemical toilet
    and ingested some
he was found collapsed at the end of a long trail of vomit

if there was such a thing as The Darwin Awards then he could have been a contender

Seems to me they could have removed the filler without hacking the truck? My chevy has like 3 bolts that hold the filler tube ends to the fender.
It just seems they should let the guy at least catch a beating before he was taken into custody. Oh the good old days.
They should have left more than a business card on the guy's window, how about an extra pair of underwear? You know he is gonna sh!t when he sees his truck.

Of course, the person who left the comment at the end of the story about this guy suing the truck owner, Ford, and the City of Redding is probably not too far from reality. Sigh....

Yeah..any good lawyer would put deep pockets FoMoCo as the primary for their cruel and inhumane invention, next we'll see little warning signs next to the filler...Sigh

It's time for a little common sense legislation saying "If you are injured or killed while commiting a crime, you and/or your survivors forfeit the right to sue."

Too bad there wasn't a single car guy on the fire department who could have said "You know, that gas filler has to unbolt SOMEWHERE..."

Too bad the owner of the truck didn't come back first. Get in, start truck, engage transmission and head for home. Would be kind of like the dog on the bumper in the movie "Family Vacation"

No Darwin award, he didn't die.

Yeah, they had bolt cutters, that would have got that finger right off.

Good chance that the filler tube has to go on from the inside, even if the bolts were accessible from the outside.

They should have just tried to shove the thief through the gas filler door opening and remove the filler tube with the thief attached, just like the factory intended, thereby leaving the F150 un****hed.:D

It would be my luck to have cut his finger off, and then it clog up my pickup tube or would have screwed up my fuel pump somehow.

I agree though, he would have been like a pinata hanging at the end of a rope while hanging out of my fuel door.

  24. shame shame ..pessimists all of you...
maybe he was putting gas into the truck and put his finger there to prevent a expensive spill...
he could have been the gas fairy...

I think a few days standing there with no food or water would have been appropriate.

Over here we are having that problem also.
Since I work at a mom and pop's auto parts people have been going in to buy fuel filler hose since they cut them to get gas. It's expensive anyways, but to top it off alot are newr cars and trucks and they have to go to the dealer and spend $100.00 - $300.00 for the hose!

They aren't doing the hose trick anymore, Poking holes in tank in their choice now. These Jerks hit a apartment complex and they punctured 7 gas tanks.

7 gastanks x $$$$ = one staying on patrol and ~~~~~~ these punks.

A old lady who had this farm and sold parts off a bunch of old cars there was losing gas in one of her tanks and got tired of it being stolen and filled it with water, one of my friends who I took out there to get parts was the one stealing the gas as I heard he only got a mile away and his car quit and had a tank full of water. I wish I knew earlier that he was the one stealing her gas as I would of kicked his *** since she sold parts cheap. Jeff

Should've just cut his finger off like they do in India, would've saved the truck anyway.

reminds me of a story where a guy broke into a house..ended up in the garage with the door behing him locked. He could not get back in the house and could not get out the garage door since the owner had not hooked up the inside ****on. he was stuck in there eating dog food and drinking water out of the water heater until the owners got home.

he sued the owners of the house and won because they did not have the garage door safety ****on stuff hooked up.

crazy **** if you ask me.
