Could use a little advice. I've just picked up a Weiand 2- 4's set up for my 322. I've come to the conclusion that I need to keep my '50 all Buick. I'd like a 401 but since I have 2 - 322's, why not. Does anyone have any experience building a 322? OK, stupid question....could one of you 322 builders p*** some helpful advice along? I've been searching the archives without much luck. Gary
Ask away, what do you need to know? I hot rodded a 56 322. 56 4barrel 322 is the best stock motor 53 322 is a lot different in the heads and pistons I'm told. 56 cam and lifters, will fit earlier 264/322's but it is different metal so the cam, lifters, push rods, and distributor gear will need to stay together. 1.6 ratio 401 rocker arms will give more lift over 1.5 ratio 322 rocker arms. 56 exhaust manifolds are bigger and flow more and a dual set up is availlable. 264/322's have shorter valve spring hight and 401 springs will bind onall but a stock valve train. Use Crane valve springs P/N 99891-16 for performance cam to .475 lift and you'll have to cut piston clearance for any high lift cam. My Poston NH200 cam had 114 lobe separation and it only cleared because of this and the fact it was degreed correctly.
