They also repeated an article in #11 from # 7. The truck titled as a 33 from New York.Maybe it will just be a jumble of articles from past mags in the next one. Ya' know a best of or something.

Thats my truck. I got a call from a 'secret connection' that said there was a bunch of mess ups in the latest mag, one being they re-ran the feature of it.

I havn't gotten #11 yet so i can't give my oppinion on it. But for some reason, i never get really upset over the mistakes.I just deal with them, and sometimes laugh at em too.
The way i look at it, even with goof ups, i get to see pics of events that i couldn't attend, like VLV and Paso.

But thats just my worthless 2cents. [IMG]

i expect the people that have JOBS (or even PRETEND to) writing, should be able to! what is wrong with asking people to be competant in their chosen field?

personally I'VE about had it with the "well do it yourself if you can do it better" arguement, i fucking machine myself, weld, fabricate, do bodywork, paint, polish, uhpolster, and every fucking thing else myself because nobody else can seem to get it right, do i have to write my own fucking magazine to read in my leisure time?

yeah we bitch, and we'll keep right on bitching until the quality meets an acceptable minimum standard.

i refuse to be happy with a shitty mag just so there is something to read, but then i also think most cars should be painted...someday. i can accept CKD as a work in progress, but they have gone DOWNHILL in quality, not gotten better.

mine, too. they're on Ritalin.

bad grammar and spelling are legion these days. time was there were so many folks working on a magazine- the writer, the editor, the copy editor, the production manager, the typesetter, the keyliner- that misspellings were less common in final published form than they are today.

nowadays there's so few opportunities to spot mistakes. when I was a young dumbshit working at a weekly newspaper in Minneapolis I'd spot all kinds of zingers. sometimes I'd have to carve individual letters with an E-Xacto knife from the galleys to correct mistakes. this is back in the day when copy was stuck down to a board with wax.

occasionally a phrase would come along that I really didn't want to fix, like "Minnesota Pubic Interest Research Group". man, I agonized over that one.

I feel if one is going to pay a pretty penny for a magazine, that mag should show respect to its readers by striving to get it right. for years you couldn't spot a misspelling in Car Craft- they even found their way through the its/it's minefield. it showed that they cared about their work and respected their readers.

Thanks Ian I just ordered it and the new R&P from them. I was ordering R&P and stuff from Kustomnewsstand(Baracuda) but took really long to get them sometimes.

Jeez Big Daddy...Your punctuation is horrible, and you forgot the "s" in "that's". Don't make me print
"72 DPI fpo proxy images" of yo ass....

14. The spelling and grammer bugs me too. But what really pisses me off, is when they get the year, and or make, of a car wrong. I know everybody doesn't know what every car is, but come on, they work for a car magazine, do a little research. Street Rodder did an artical on driving the McMullen clone on Americruse, or power tour, and the guy got the year wrong on a 55 Chevy. A 55 Chevy for christ sakes! That's just stupid. That's my 2.5 percent. Dean

15. Ya know when I get a few min. to sit down and check someting out it means I had a few min to have a few Smirnoffs. When I check out the HAMB it is always blurry like now and sometimes the words on the screen are movin. So my point is that I know I can't spell well anyway but when I have had late at night I don't post because I don't know if it will make since, but if you complain about spelling hell I can never post. But, you are right I don't go to work drunk and I do my job well so they should do theirs well also. Besides if we could all spell there would be no need for those sexy secrateries. joker
ps add a spell checker to the postting section Please.

Heres some inside info on #11. It was put together, tits to toes, by two people who both have jobs. Not all issues were done this way, just #11. Tony's truck was an over sight. It already ran in a previous issue. Consider it the April Fools issue...? First person to find all the mistakes has too much time and will get an autographed copy from me. Let that be a lesson to you. If the bitching stops I won't make this offer again. I promise. [IMG] [IMG]

maybe they should stick the their day jobs then.

look, i LIKE having the rag around to read, but they have a serious problem! they have the benefit of a large format with a lot of color pages, many of the people working their asses off to put out GOOD LITTLE MAGS would kill for the oppertunity to have such a format.

and then theres people like morty over at HOP UP, who won't put out a product that ain't RIGHT.

oh well, i guess it would be better if we just kept our traps shut and leave the CKD people to wonder why their mag goes under. some magazines appreciate ALL reader input they can get good and bad.

and to show how opend minded and willing to change I am, i just might NOT buy the next issue! thanks! [IMG]

Ray,
Have Haring grade your post on spelling and grammar. I think you failed to get your point across about spelling and grammar errors with a post full of spelling and grammar errors. Nice try.

I still like the magazine.

23. Ray you are a DORK.

You should be reading Readers Digest.

If you can't ENJOY a car magizine put out by people for the love of cars, doing it on a shoestring in there spare time
so we can have an alternative to the OTHER advertisement magizines disguised as car magizines, don't buy it.
And please don't complain about it here.

24. I agree with ray, AND I still buy the magazine when I can. They do have a problem. None of us here are trying to sell a product based on our grammar skills, CKD is.

I'll say this, at least I got my issue #11 way before everybody on here started posting about it. That's a HUGE improvement over past experience. The new delivery plan seems to work. Thanks! As for miss-spellings and such it's annoying but doesn't to bother me too much. I can't spell perfectly, and my typing is awful. So I can't cast the first stone.

Sorry, but the quality of the mag has gone way down. You can give any excuse you like but the guys doing it have to improve or there will be more mags like Old School Rides coming along to take away the readers.

I also like this.

I just bought issue #11 of Car Kulture Deluxe.

I think I got a vision impared "EZ Reader" version of the issue. All of the text is extra large. I think my copy is intended for the elderly.

I also noted that there are misspellings and editing mistakes on every page. I think I got a beta copy of the issue; perhaps a rough draft that hadn't been edited yet.

I asked the stock clerk at Tower Records if they had any other "regular" copies, but they only had the "EZ Reader" beta copies. Also, many of the photos appear to be 72 dpi "FPO" proxy images. I don't think the real photos had been dropped in yet.

If anyone knows where I can get the correct issue, let me know.

Thanks,
don

The Hot Rod Company is GREAT! "Side Valve" offers a HAMB shipping discount and the magazines I ordered arrived very quickly. I was very happy with the service and I'd definitely recommend them to anyone.

I ordered the CKD 11 and the new R&P on last Thursday or Friday. The weekend was a holiday weekend and the showed up today. I ordered the R&P from KustomNewStand a few before that and still have not got it. So I am very happy the The HotRodCompany. Easy and very fast service.
