Glad to see Ryan put up a bit about this fantastic exhibit. I happened to check it out on a "First Friday" of the month, where all exhibits are free at the Art Museum on that day (as well as other various art happenings downtown). It is breathtaking. I knew about some of the cars and learned about the way American designs were looking at what Europe was offering. The Lincoln Zephyr they had there is a great example of that. If you don't check it out on a "First Friday" you have to pay full admision, but take notice of the special times where you can go and get a full lecture on the cars when they have a spe******t there.
Well, I just called down there to ask questions about the exibit. One question I asked was, on the site it says "no flash photography", but talking to the administrator, for this exibit, "no photography allowed". I might still go, just to see these cars, but I'm just letting anyone know before they shell out the $14 a head with plans on taking pics there. As I'm getting older my photographic memory is not what it once was (ok, screw you, it never was). Although they sell the book, as a photographer I prefer my own angles and points of interest, that another person might not see/admire.
For those of us who couldn't get to the exhibition, there is a book that accompanies the exhibit, available here: http://phxart.org/store/catalogs.asp with photos and writeups. This month's Road & Track gives it a good review. It's not cheap, $75, but I'm thinking seriously about getting it . Love this era of auto design.
