Maybe just an idea to help with the problems in the For Sale & Wanted sections. The For Sale & Wanted areas to be ONLY open to the original post, editing and 3 day bumps by the original poster. Absolutely CLOSED to all others except for veiwing. ALL conversation, questions, wishes, etc... to be done through PM system. IF..... someone brings up a good question that the seller forgot to mention and he/she wants to ad it to his/her post, he/she can then edit it for all to see and help their sale potential or wanted search. Or ad info or pics in their 3 day bump. I find NO drawbacks of doing it this way. People make LARGE amounts of money from the for sale area here, and to require them to conduct ALL business "after" posting in a PM isn't a lot to ask. I'm sure 99% of the B.S. posts are only done to bump their own post count. The FREE for sale area is a privelage and I have thought over my idea several times and see no drawbacks to doing it like that. Imagine how much easier YOUR job would be!!! It sure would make viewing them a lot more pleasant then reading a bunch of ..."Dang, I wish I was closer".... " PM sent" ... "PM received and returned" ... "Nice car!".... " Will you trade my liver for it?"....etc... Just an idea...............
Excellent suggestion. Should also include "transport or Hauling" ads. There's a transporter that posted his service and 48 replied with endor*****ts which means that the poster has to read each reply but none saying they need his service
Great idea, I had the same one a few years back and we went for it. It nearly killed the cl***ifieds...
I agree with a locked thread once displayed with edit /reply open only to originator and administrators. This tire kicking wish I were closer stuff is non-productive..PM sent can lead others to believe it is to late to snarf a deal and thus don't reply...should a deal be struck it is the responisbilty of the lister to edit the ad with info on item sold. He's the guy who is going to be getting the PM's.. Another possibilty would be a 30 day limit..If said item is still for sale or wanted..then the person could relist. Ads stay more current and searching the ads for an item will return current data only...IMHO and thanks for listening.
