sorry for the off topic post, but i had to get this off my chest and who better to ask to keep me company in misery than 30,000 of my closest friends?

Mamma Fiddy and i had to put our labrador Chancellor down tonight. it was the most dificult thing i have ever done in my adult life.

for those here who dont know, mama an i cannot have children, and our two dogs have been the closest thing we could get to sharing our home, lives and love with.

sleep soundly Chance... I will love you for the rest of my life.

my bed hog, my food mooch, my best friend. the shop will be lonely without your paws in the oil puddles

keep up your spirits and stay positive. A new puppy can always heal the pain of a lost one:)

...and don't worry, all dogs go to heaven!

Sorry to hear that, I had to put my yellow lab "Evo" (like an evolution motor because his dads name was harley) down about 3 weeks ago, right before Paso, and I couldn't even enjoy the weekend.

I still go out everynight to go feed him or go let him in so he can hangout in the shop. It kills me.

Sorry to hear that bud, take care and God Bless you all!

Wow man, I am so sorry for your loss. As tough as it is right now, realize what a great life you gave your dog. Yours is a bond that cannot be broken.

  8. I know how you feel. Today is my dogs birthday. I put her down this May 27th. She would have been 13. I still look for her. Dean

  9. I feel for you. I had to say goodbye to my longtime friend Mr. Arnold recently too. He and I had been through tons together and I still look for him. Sometimes I swear he's "lurking" around here.

Sorry to hear it. I know the feeling having just returned from the all night vet with my pooch. Me and Ma had The Discussion before I took him in. Thought sure I was going to lose him tonight after 11 years.

I know everybody's gotta go, but it sure does suck when the time comes.

prayers to you and mama fiddy. i had to put my dog down before too. never an easy thing to do. stay strong, you gave him the best you could.

  15. we lost our golden retreiver/akita mix named Recovery{wifes a drug and alky counselor, go figure}several years ago. "Reco" went to the dump with me,camping trips,"catch-me-if-you-can"trips through the nieghborhood{unplanned!}. I still miss him standing on the foot of the bed howling to my crappy singing! He left such a hole in our lives that it took two dogs to fill it! Now we have Bronco and Chica. Getting another dog is a good way to help heal the lonelyness, just get a different color or breed so you wont be making comparisons to your old friend,it wouldnt be fair to your new one. It still hurts like hell though! Best of luck to you.

I'm sorry to hear of your loss. I've never had a pup myself, but I do know about losing someone you care about. Best wishes to you and your fam.

Sorry for your loss. Losing my first dog (a briard, she had to be put down) was one of the most painful experiences of my life.

    Been there.

When my black lab died last July, I cried like a baby. Time is the only thing that helped me. I still think about her all the time even though we now have a new chocolate lab.

The pain of losing them is far outweighed by the joy that they bring to us.

    My condolences.

Many Pet owners here have been through the same thing. Go to the pound and pick up a puppy. Start a new friendship

Sometimes we take our fuzzy friends for granted, but when it comes to unconditional love and acceptance,... they could teach us a thing or two,... sorry to hear about Chancellor, but someday some needy pup will look at you like your the greatest thing sence sliced bread,... and the new bond will start all over again, besides your other Dog is going to need a new pal,............... ( This too shall pass)

You'll never be able to replace him with a puppy...but you will be able to gain another 'best' friend.

    Sorry for your loss...

thats a real bummer man, i had the same thing as Jim sibley , from 5 to 16 then she got the cancer, she showed her first signs 3 days before we had to put her down, apperently she had had it for years, but it did not affect her untill it got her stomach and kideneys by then it was to late to do anything all of a suddon she stopped eating and moving around over the cours of about 12 hours then we went to the vet that was it, the pain she had was to much and she was put down the night after we found out there was no option but to put her down or let her starve to death, that was a shit awfull feeling picking her up to put her in the truck and she was the best retriever out there, gun shy and afraid of thunder and fireworks 10 years ago and i really miss her, my condolences, man now i just feel like crap having played it all out again in my head
