I have lost the reference but there was a discussion on the HAMB ,(or Chevy Talk), about using the Toyota Land cruiser cyl head on pre 62 Chev 235 engines. The information I'm after is which years Toyota used the 235 engine with improved head. The head had individual intake ports, not siamesed as the Chev ones are.Australians used the head on their race cars.
If I had looked in the archives I would have found it.Still not sure if it will work on a Chev 235,and what it does to the compression ratio.

I am into Land Cruisers and just thinking off of the top of my head the first gen 1F engines would be the one. So that would be 63 - 68 I think, but they do crack heads. I have a complete motor of that vintage I should take a look at it. THough these motors where low compression, like 5 or 5.5. The next gen 1F not 2F had higher compresion but I don't know if that one will work. I do have a 2F at home with a 4 barrel intake and a header. You can add a HEI in these engines and also 235 water pump. If I was you look on Pirate4x4.com under Land Cruiser section and you may find something on what years the early motors where.
I tried one once to see if it was true. It is very close to a 216 head (Less bolts) but just far enough off thet it will not bolt on.
We went thru this last year, and I even went to the local Toyota 4WD wrecker with a 235 headgasket. The Toyo head is longer, and the bolt spacing, although very similar in design, will not bolt up to the Stovebolt head. Ted, you might have some luck fitting it up to the Jimmy head, as ther Jimmy is longer than the Stovebolt 6. That's one I haven't tried. Did that email come thru, Ted?
