axel i had a great time, this year there were a lot of great cars, way more than last year! i do have to say (and i am not saying its your falt) but when i came out of the casino sat. there were a lot of local essays, and mini truckers using the parking blot as a place to party so we felt a littlke uncomfortable leaving our cars there any longer so we moved the m to are hotel. we felt that security should have kept them out for at least till sunday. not trying to wine bucause i know youy have your hands full but just suggesting. thanks for a great time

Last year when we left to go to our hotel, there were a bunch of Vegas homies (or whatever) actually sitting on the trunk of my Altima. They were completly wasted and I had to do some sort of gang sign, (an L and a V, you had to see it!!) to get them to move. They weren't confrontational or mean, (they were actually kinda funny and said they had my back for the whole time I was in Vegas), but it still kinda freaked me out. [IMG]

But they weren't half as funny as the pimp and his hos in the pimpmobile Caddy at the gas station!! [IMG]

But I imagine there are probably enough people up in the parking lot all night that it'd be pretty safe, but it's still something to look into.

There were bikes, just not too many. More than half looked like Evo motor Harley to me.

Hey Axle... just wanted to let you know as a 1st time visitor to VLV, I can see why it's got the reputation that it does. It was controled mayhem with cool cars. Everyone had the right attitude for fun. There's always room for improvment but you and your guys do a great job.

The wife and I are already planning for next year and that will be WITH my T I hope. Looking forward to meeting you sometime too.

    No sickles = GAY

Shouldnt exclude them, just screen them the same way that cars are. Maybe newer mustangs shouldnt be allowed either...

  13. does the no sickles have to do with somebody crashing straight into a barrier in the parking lot. I heard it happened.. There was lots of guys ripping around that may have led to this rule.*****s though..

we'll take all suggestions.....suggestions make for a better show. the new rule DOES NOT come from us but the owners of the GC. and they have thier reasons (cant get in to that).
as for GC security? that*****...plain and simple. you've go to understand something....they are use to the 80 year old lady who lot her $5.00 gambling chip, or has accused her 90 year old friend of sliping it in to her purse.......what goes on at vlv is WAAAY beyond thier experience or capabilites.
but next year 12 GIGANTIC no nonsense outside security guards will show thier presence on that parking lot. this should eliminate any problems like drunks hanging all over nice cars with nice paint jobs.
    nuff said.
thanks again guys....nice meeting a lot of you!
P.S. I KNOW A LOT OF YOU MISSED (OR DID'T GET TO SEE) CHARLES PHOENIX'S NOSTALGIA SLIDE SHOW....SIMPLY AMAZING! THIS GUY HAS CAREFULLY COLLECTED 1 MILLION COLOR SLIDES FROM THE 4O'S,50'S, & 60'S AND SHOWED SOME OF THEM INSIDE THE G.C. SUNDAY. HE SPEAKS/JOKES THROUGH OUT THE PRESENTATION AND ITS AWESOME. HE HAS 4 NEW BOOKS OUT....BOUGHT THEM ALL....ONE OF THEM IS****LED "SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA IN THE 50'S" anyone out there that is********* in to americana like my wife & i .......you need to buy the books and see his show!
    maybe he has a website?

    Axle-

This was my first year attending too because I'm normally committed at Easter every year... I had a great time, and you did a very commendable job with the car show. It can be controlled chaos to pull something like this off, but you guys managed very well. 95% of the attendees are good, responsible people, but I know how fast the 5% can ruin something cool for everyone else.

Sorry I didn't get to meet more HAMB'rs... It was too overwhelming and I missed the 11am meet. I'll post my pics on a seperate post.

    Thanks again!

  16. what I didnt get is why were they kicking people out of the parking lot on Sat afternoon, and not letting people up to the parking lot from the hotel??.. Made me get separated from my wife and kid..

had an excellant time myself...*****s i missed the 11am meet, crashed hard around 7am and didnt make it to the show until noon.

i was oblivious to any bad mojo at the show other than a friend selling her vintage wares having a problem with a theif.

I'm not knocking Evo's, but I****umed that bikes were under the same general rule as cars: old.

There were some great looking Harleys there, and a few 2 wheeled street rods - but a lot of them weren't old.

Great show as always, Alex. My thanks to you and the boys.

I reckon the no motorcycles deal might have something to do with the Hells Angels an the Bandidos that were rolling around the lot on Sat evening. They weren't causing any problems that I saw, but since the deal at Laughlin, casino types seem to get kinda twitchy when any of those guys are around. Who knows?

I thought it was a great show. Good Job Alex. And I thought it was a little more lenient than last year (referring to saturday night). The partying on the parking lot was pretty crazy.

There were probably 75 car clubs represented and only a few were a 'problem'.

I have about 15 hours of video and 500 photos, so the Viva DVD that we are putting together should be excellent this year.</font>

Just wanted to say hey and it was a blast. I was parked right next to a HAMBer and I didnt even know it. That'll teach me to go to bed at 6 a.m.

    Alex,
Okay, I*****, I couldn't make it out this year
    but
IT DOESN'T LOOK LIKE I WILL EVER COME AGAIN
thanx to the no motorcycle rule
come on Alex, you KNOW that I know better and for you guys to try and do something like that*****s
i don't care what gold coast thinks
fuck them if they have a problem.
YOU NEED TO DO SOMETHING ABOUT THAT, DON'T TRY AND SAY IT'S OUT OF YOUR HANDS.
that is a cop out and you know it.
    but
    I still love you anyways
    and
    yes, Nads is a*****ing hero.

Thanks a lot Alex, it was a blast, thanks
for the heads up on Vickie Tofoya, that was the
best show I saw. She rules, the acappella thing
with Eddie Nichols sent shivers up my spine.
The no bikes rule would***** big time, then
there would be no reason for The Sinners to show up,
or Chuck Zito or Billy Lane or******* etc, etc.
Tell Vic he's a great guy, I loved his never ending stories
and the dude's got some wisdom too.
Sorry I missed you Dave, I guess I'll still get to
see you at bike events, I'm going to the SMSO fer sure.

As for the wreckless driving I saw, it's beer and
testosterone fueled and completely stupid, especially
    in closed quarters.
I had some cat take me for a drive in his A, and I asked
him NOT to peel out "please" but he did it anyway.
I was ashamed to be seen in his car. He was a young dude
maybe when he's older he'll dig.

Anyways Alex, I love you brother, The Shifters and
Choppers too, see you down the road.

on another post by eddy,,,, i busted his chops a bit for posting for the first time a rant... however, he's absolutely right... the 'wreckless' driving has to be cooled down. if we wanna' drag race or***** around let's do it away from the venue...it's AXLE'S**** on the line and the future of the car show as well. i'm a JACK**** at times and am up for a good smokey burnout... but there is a time and a place for that... not in a closed quarters lot with pedestrians and children and our cars in the LINE OF FIRE...let's not act like****HOLES and get further stereotyped by the masses as such.i include myself in this note as having been guilty of stupidity at times and getting LOST IN THE MOMENT. next year let's have a ENGINE BLOW, DRAG RACE, TIRE MELT at a SUPER SECRET LOCATION kinda' like THE FAST AND THE FURIOUS...any ideas?

Good idea nic, 'cept that 'secret' location would become unsecret in about four minutes.
But y'all know who's to blame for the tradition of peeling out at VLV?
    I'm not saying a word.

what we're talking about isn't 'SMOKIN' EM' it's about bein' stoopid around unsuspecting people not hip to, as J.F. calls 'REASONABLE RISK' and hurtin' someone... i know to watch my back and be alert around my peers but the wandering family from N.214TH st.ELKHORN, NEBRASKA that goes out to the lot from the casino and is impaled by THE SHARP TEETH OF MY IRON CAST LIKENESS OF RAT FINK on the grille of my RAT fink ROD...
