im working on a 50s business coupe and dropped in a 440". everything is sitting well. i chucked my original pedals and want to go in with a floor assembly that just has the brake and gas pedals. should i go with firewall instead? anyone have any recommendations on companies and things to look for when mounting?
Here's a source that isn't "mainstream". I've never used them, but if they're designed for Nascar Cup type cars...they must be sturdy. http://www.stockcarproducts.com/pedassy1.htm
Not sure you want to use that race stuff. I have that set up (wilwood). It can be difficult to set up the cylinders and the balance bar. It works fine once it is set up but it really is made to adjust to road conditions (wet/dry..) Better for tuning in race cars. I am going to switch to a power booster and tandem master cylinder with the porportion valve/meter combo. Have the parts and its on the list of things to do but I can't take it off the road to do it now. In the midwest we have less hotrod season and more winter season! Ebay has firewall swing pedals with boosters and cylinders.
Most throttles are firewall mount even with floor mounted brakes, because it works out nice for cable position. For the brakes, look for a ford stuff to adapt since it's repro'd in any flavor you'd want from stock to street rod.
