I've got a 351w inmy '60 f-100 and it's got a set of edelbrock heads on it. I can't stand the edelbrock valve covers, they are feakin ugly. Does anyone know if the original valve covers will work, or if there is something else that looks cool? Let me know if anyone has any ideas, pics would be cool as well.

The OE valve covers will work just fine. I personally like the Cal Custom finned ones. I also like Fabricated aluminum (I work in a race shop, give me a break!) and the Mickey Thompson ones looked pretty cool too. it just depends on your budget and the looks.
Stock valve covers sure do make a wild *** motor look stock.

Send me the old "Edel-what?" covers...I have some nice "corporate" FORD stamped steel ones I will generously let you have in exchange.

  5. Yeah originals fit, same pattern. The Cal Customs look pretty good but from memory (CRS) they done have an oil fill hole??

i have a set each of the filled mickey thompsons and finned holley valve covers, the mickeys are black with polished fins and the holleys are polished bare aluminum, any 289/302/351w vavle covers will work on your heads, damn i wished they made the old y block style finned aluminum ones with the big ford logo for the later engines

If you're running Edelbrock heads, I ***ume you've got aluminum roller rockers. You need to watch if you're planning on factory steel, or even aftermarket covers like the CalCustom ones. They may not clear the poly locks. Factory steel ones... probably not. CalCustom...maybe - I've never tried them, but they look pretty short. My aftermarket ones will not, so I have to run the stamped steel roller tip rockers. There's a guy on ebay that has v/c spacers, but they're like $150. As far as design and bolt pattern, all 260, 289, 302, and 351W (except Boss 302) are interchangeable.

Summit sells some pretty cool cast aluminum covers, smooth and tall enough to clear roller rockers. I think they are excellent candidates to be painted engine color, especially with aluminum heads and intake....... Not too expensive, either.
