I am possibly on Friday for sure on Saturday. Petejoe is going on Saturday too. Where is the website about the event? Is there one besides the National Trail website?
I have not seen one, the only thing that I have seen is the flyer that they sent out. I dont think it is going much like Bowling Green.
There is another link concerning this somewhere. Alot of people had posted that they were going. I had other plans but they have changed. I should be there Saturday.
Not this year by moving it to a modern track I think they are taking the nostalgia out of nostalgia drag racing.
"National Trail Raceway" broke ground in the fall of 1963.... MODERN TRACK ???........ http://www.nationaltrailraceway.net/history.html

i posted this earlier,,,,,,its going on at BEECH BEND this weekend,,,looks like a damn good excuse to hang out and check out some dragracing,,,, http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/showthread.php?t=188590
ditto on the HAMB meeting... bowling green might be a cooler place for it, but this is 45 miles away and i have never seen or heard a g***er or slingshot run. i've got too much **** to do to drive to BG, KY for a weekend. sadly it wasn't too long ago that the trails still had the look, i have heard.
The wife and I will be there on Sat. We should pull in about 9:30. I've heard Bowling Green was great, but like it's been said it's 5 hours or more from the house. This way I can drive up for the day and back that night. Keep a lookout for my cream and green '57 Ranchero. Hopefully the flake will be beeming in the sun. Stop by and say hey, I'll be the goofy looking guy with the hellaciously sunburnt nose.
Well I have my HAMB tag in the back window of my 54 Chevy. If anyone sees it, leave a buck under the window wiper for gas for my return home. Here is the other thread. http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/showthread.php?t=185184&highlight=reunion
P***ed this yesterday in my neck of the woods. The truck was aiming out of a hotel parking lot. I'm pretty sure I did the worlds fastest U-turn to catch up with it. Turns out they weren't leaving but rather backing the rig into the lot for the night and finishing the trip to Columbus today. Got me pretty stoked for the weekend!
thanks megan, now i'm stoked. i don't care if the event was held at a walmart parking lot. i will never get tired of getting to hang out with everyone, and check out old race cars... man, i ****in love old race cars. see ya tommorrow
Bandit and Big Apple, you guys are totally correct, it IS all about the cars. I loved the atmosphere at BG but wherever the cackle is is where I will be. I just love seeing some of these cars in the flesh for the first time and nothing beats being able to hang out with a bunch of my heros. I just wish that I had my car done but there is always next year (and maybe Pebble Beach in 09). Roo
Retro 61 comment: They ripped the sole out of the event when they moved it!! I'm definately goin to p*** this year, probably have a better time at the local cruise in! See ya down the road!! I'm glad not many other people have your at***ude. Events that don't have spectators don't make any profit and vendors don't come back. As a result the event dies. Like other people have said it's about the cars not what the bleachers look like. I remember seeing the Hot Rod Reunion in magazine coverage out in CA and would have given my eye teeth to be able to attend but the distance and money to get there was out of my budget. Would you rather fly out to CA to see the west coast Hot Rod Reunion-if this show dies??
Not even close IMO, if enough people make a stink about not going PERHAPS they will find a way to move it back There is no way in hell you'll get this feel at National trails
I'm afraid that having the NHHR at Columbus will be like having the March Meet at Pomona. I'm sure it will be a good time, but it's just not the same. Now that some right of way issues have been addressed at Beech Bend, and NHRA is selling National Trail, maybe the race will work its way back to Kentucky.
