This week I found myself down in San Jose for some rather mundane work-related training...to make up for it, I called up Alex over at Gambino Kustoms and arranged to drop by the shop to check out some of the many cool projects going on in the shop. It was good to see you again Alex, and thanks for not picking Carl's Jr. again on the third night!! Seriously, I learned a lot of shit just hanging out. It was also good to meet the crew...Ash (Zombie1950), Steve (BlacktopButcher) and Dave. Here are the pics: This '40 Chevy is incredible...my pics do NOT do it justice... Phil (Rustypipes) is hiding somewhere behind this '54 that's just getting it's chop going...thanks for taking me by Sellers shop, bro. That place was unreal!
Notebooms' Caddy...once again, my pics don't pick up the detail that's going into this car...it's gonna be bad-ass! Good call on this dash... Beautiful Olds... That's all I've got, but there are a few other things going on there that I'm sure we'll be seeing soon enough... Bryan
Lucky Duck!! Those cats got it goin on fo sho, they just don't do nothin but tasty!! Thanx for sharing the cool tour.-Sololobo/Roadburners of Omaha
Sweet! Those are some cool pics. I need some chedda to get some saucy work from Gambino Customs. Always stunning work rolling out of that shop!
Definitely! I was really blown away by how much fun sh!t there is to do in San Jose and how strong the hot rod and custom presence is...I'm sure I just barely scratched the surface too. I really wish I would've...I didn't even take the pics at Gambino's until the third night and that was an afterthought. It's just so easy to get wrapped up talking shop, reminscing about old times, and just having fun. I was REALLY tempted to just bail on my training class so I could watch Alex work. There's an article in the new Garage (issue #14) that has an interview with Sellers...like most types of media (the HAMB included), you get a brief glimpse into the mind and personality of the person being interviewed. Steve is SUPER cool guy...extremely talented and passionate about his work. His shop is like a mad scientist's lab of metal, but exquisitely clean, like his work. Expect some VERY cool things coming out of that shop SOON... Bryan
Man that is some great looking stuff!!! My club and I just finished putting in a Gambino Notch and a ART 4-link in the bomb!!! Turned out great!! Our work isn't as clean has their stuff but I tell you what his notch is the shit!! -COS
