I finally did it. My chevy moves and stops under it's own power. Thanks to all you folks who put up with my dumb questions and gave encouragement. This is the first time I've ever taken on anything like this and at 23 my knowledge of cars was pretty poor but it's getting better. She may be rusty and she may be banged up but she's mine and I'm damn proud of myself right now.

  8. Excellent! You have a right to be proud. Now go get some bugs on the windshield.

FWIW, my high school car was a '53 2-door. But in 1980, it was only 27 years old.

    Good on 'ya. My first car at 16 was a '54 chebbie..4 dr..6 cyl....auto.
Thought I was the coolest dude on the block. Brush painted the rims black..put on 3" whitewall portawalls. Used chicken wire-newspapers and black magic bondoe to fix the holes in the rockers and rear fenders!!!! :D That was 44 years ago and I remember the car like it was yesterday. Keep working on it and soon you will have it like you want it to be.

  17. Congratulations Ryan! Now go shave, get a haircut and put your hat on straight!! Just kidding ya...:D

Don't let the dings and rust get you down, you should be proud of your car. After all, it's YOURS and you worked hard for it. Besides, your car will get more attention than a new Honda or WRX will because it's out of the ordinary and it's cooool. (Drop it about 3 inches and it'll get 3 degrees cooler.)

It's great to see someone of your age that doesn't have a sense of entitlement and the attitude that everything should be given instead of earned. You worked at something and now you're seeing results.
Keep this lesson with you, it'll serve you well.

Yep, nice ride. Get a set of 3" blocks in the rear and cut the front coils a bit and you'll be sportin a sweet one. Next up, save your pennies for a welder and start filling in the holes on the hood and deck!

    Nice car! Nice job.
