Ditzler Duracryl. Pulled the paint code off a Forf Restorer's site; was bought at Painter's Supply. I Like the fact it's lacquer-know the stuff.

As for more pix - that will hafta wait. Got to get humpin' so's to complete the car by 4th of July.

And guys - thanks. I was aiming for a period - correct car which was essentially full-race...and the build is hitting the mark.

  6. That car will make Ryan change his stance on Black cars!

Love it! Nothin more tradional then original colors done in lacquer, no matter how you try with anything else, lacquer looks more period correct IMHO. For those interested I noticed Mac's Auto Parts list original Ford colors in Ditzler lacquer in their mail order catalog, prices look comparable to what I pay for it at my local PPG dealer.

  8. ****** beautiful, I just love that color.......Keep up the good work.

Great color choice... I've always been a huge fan of that shade... I can't wait to see it with the front-end on it!

I really like the Maroon color, and the gray contrast looks **** hot.

Curious - What is the gray color? I'd like to paint my running gear the same shade of gray. I'm painting my coupe the new red - Washington Blue.;)

Washington Blew? Is that the color of the stain on Monica's dress?

Nice job, Chuck. Good talking to you the other night. As for the car, Zach, you did a killer job on that thing. It fits me like a glove and the things Chuck has done make it real dreamy. I can't wait to see it done. I've got to get up and see it for real next week.

thanks guys, for all the support!

As for the drivetrain and ch***is:

Everything is shot in a tricolor combo of (get this) Rustoleum Hammertone. Yup - the ch***is is a rattlecan job!

Black hammertone was used for the frame
Grey hammertone for the engine & transmission
Silver hammertone for the front and rear axle.

The idea was to mimic WWII aircraft landing gear - besides, I like the 'look' of a dark body on light-colored running gear.

    this is really freaky...

the car was painted about ten days ago. I've been away this week; when I came home last night I snuck a peek at it B4 the sun went down...

The finish is starting to haze over - like a car that was detailed and then sat on the back row of a San Diego car lot for a couple of months. At the rate it's going - it will look like the Duracryl I laid down on Pop's Model A in about three weeks. FWIW, I painted Pop's car in '78.

Wasn't sure of what zach or you were going for, but I'm hoping not... a god polished allum, left to oxidize a bit, would look amazing with this hazy maroon paint... just my 2 cents, it's certianly your car chuck! hope to see it in person soon!

I think he's leaving it unpainted, at least he didn't take the nose with the body to be painted.

Someone asked for a full - on sideview (Django?); a buddy of mine took one the other evening - here it is. you can see the paint isn't crystal clear in this shot - and the nose was stuck on for effect:

    Thanks.

I've had an unopened can of Gray hammertone for years now, and hadn't thought of using it in that combination. HhhMmmmm.....
