Why would you even think of selling it? Cool **** like this does not happen to people who have money in the bank but drive 4 door Hyundota's.

Looked your car over closely at Dewey. Didn't get a chance to visit but any award that car gets is deserved big time. Sounds like some of the media guys know quality when they see it. The detail is what makes your coupe IMHO, sweet ride.

    Me three!

Congrats, thats a great story, with memories that you'll have the rest of your days.

And if you DO sell it, I can't wait to see what you come up with next, cause that coupe is the bees knees!

Needless to say, we've more than doubled the budget now and I'm feeling it. I want to keep her more than anything, but I'm not wealthy. I hope yall understand.

    I understand completely...

The car is just a car. It's almost secondary to the fun it brings. It's hard to have much fun when it represents a negative such as a painful debt.

The owner of a car should do with the car whatever is the funnest (intentionally making up words is fun too)... There are lots of *****in' cars out there but there are very few people actually having fun with them.
It's taken me a while to realize that.

But aside from all that. Congrats on the recognition. It's a worthy car and deserves the notice.

Congrats Larry and a well deserved recognition for the car. One of my favorites. Way to show everyone that they are made for driving! .......and occasionally breaking stuff......

Then keep it. I'm not trying to be a smart *** or disrespectful. I guess my situation is so much different that I really do not understand.

I'm not rich either and I've got enough debt to choke a horse (not because of the cars, I've got a mortgage, in southern California).

The way I look at it, my cars (and specifically my roadster) have opened doors for me that I would have never had access to (kind of like your experiences described here). To use an overused, cliche' phrase, "it changed my life". I know that sounds corny as hell but it's true. Like Bob Bleed said "when I'm driving my roadster, I'm the coolest mother****er on the planet".

Selling it to make a profit or to pay off some debts just isn't an option. If I were to sell it, the dollar amount would have to be enough to "change my life" and that amount is significantly higher than the market value of my car. So, for all practical purposes, it's not for sale.

Again Larry, BEAUTIFUL COUPE!!! With the words above, Don Dillard makes an excellent point. But, If you do have to sell it, at least your experience at Indy is the proverbial "Icing on the cake"!

Congrats Larry.. While I say don't sell( been close with my comet a few times, but can't do it), I'd hope before you sell her, you fix her and go drive her hard ..she deserves it, and so do you for all that time and money...

Just tell him to front with the cash and you will build him a similar one, that way you get to have both lots of fun, building a new hot rod while driving the old one. The only problem is parting with the new one once it's done..bit like a surrogate mother.
Parts plus labor , progress payments in advance.... he has already seen your workmanship.

I have been trying to post some pic's of the SLICKEST HOT ROD at "INDY" from photo bucket, but I'm having trouble (see QUESTIONS & SUGGESTIONS) so here is a small pic. :) HELP!

I can't wait to see it in the RODDERS JOURNAL & ROD & CUSTOM.

Larry, I'm glad to see all the recognition you are receiving for building such a breath taking HOT ROD!
