Like the ***le says, I'm thinking about doing an A roadster with everything black, frame, engine, interior, everything. No chrome or contrast color at all. Not primer either, but an actual finished car with maybe black anodizing or even porcelain or black chrome (does it exist?) on some parts. Anybody tried this? I've seen it on motorcycles but never a car.
Trendy or not, 3WLarry's "black on black on black" thread has inspired me on my next Model A coupe build and you won't have to guess what color it's going to be this time I already have a fresh set of shiny black kelsey's with blackwall firestone tires waiting in the wings!
ok to further this thought , would you contrast the blacks? ,many choices of black to go gloss or satin ,tone it down,? that alone would take time to determine how you would like it to look, you would not want to to go all gloss?would you? my pickup a 25 model t is all black , or at least it was 82 years ago
When I met Flat-Top Bob, he was driving a full-fendered Deuce three window with all black paint, including black Moon Disks covering the wheels, and black naugahyde headlight covers during the day. The car was sinister looking, to say the least.
nice thread, but i dont believe that is what xlr8 is talking about...those are just a bunch of black cars...he is talking bout a BLACK car, no chrome caps, pipes, suspension, trim, total blackout...i think it would look cool
Right on hotrodbrad, that's what I'm after, nothing on the car that's not some shade of black. But it could be different ways of arriving at black. Maybe some metallic black paint on some parts, satin on the frame, anodizing on aluminum, etc. Yamaha midnight special motorcycles in the late 70's had black chrome pipes, I don't know if it was actually chrome at all or some other process. But yeah, that's what I was thinking, I wondered if anybody'd done it and could post a pic, maybe it's so trendy nobody's even done it yet, lol.
About 20 some years ago I was living in Dallas, and saw a Lincoln Mark IV done up all black, trim, hubcaps, even all the marker and taillights were tinted black, lowered a bunch, may be newer than you're thinking of, but it looked very sinister cruising around dusk. Really liked the look of it.
