I just acquired a 700 r4 out of a 86 Caprice for my Studebaker PU. It did not come with the bolts to attach the flex plate to the torque converter. Looks like they are co**** thread, and 3/8's seems too small and 7/16's is too big. Are these metric? Or something Chevy only?
Make very sure you don't get bolts that are to long. If they are to long they can press in the convertor and damage the friction clutch that is glued to the inside surface of the convertor. I would stop by a local ****** shop, they have them laying around....
they are metric and have a thread locker on them. you can get new ones from your GM dealer , part # 1261968. they are only $1.85 each for the correct part you know is good
Took yer partnumber to the local chevy dealership, counter guy plugged it in and it came up invalid. We double checked his keyboarding and it came up invalid again. checked the computer for all know automatic parts screens, none showed the bolt. Apparently Mr. Goodwrench doesn't work there. Went to the Buick dealer, number was fine, counter guy said it should be a good number at any GM house, go figure..... They were 2 bucks each, but have thread locker on them and are the spec'd lenght, with the correct shoulder. Thanks for the info. G
