Look what followed me home...

  1. Well, almost. About two weeks ago, I got a phone call from my Uncle. I figured he's calling to bust my chops, since moving has stopped all progress on the plymouth. Nope. He says as soon as I have room in the garage, come get the T-Bucket...it's yours. Now he had told me before, that I get the car when he dies. So the first thing I HAVE to ask is "You're not dying are you?". The second question is "You're not kidding are you?". NO, to both questions! I have never sold, given away, unpacked, and just plain hidden so much crap in such a short period of time. Mission accomplished, half of the garage clean. Went and picked it up on Father's Day. Best part...the 2 hour drive home! This car was built 20 years ago, in half of a two car garage, completely by my Uncle. I remember "helping" him when I was in high school. Mostly I remember rounding the head off a chrome bolt for the steering arm! It may not look totally "traditional", but it was built by hand, it is staying in the family, it puts a big old grin on your face, and both my daughters had to have a ride in it before I could put it away. If that ain't traditional, I don't know what is!

    that's really neat!

since it was given to you - you can afford to 'make it your own'...adding and subtracting design elements to suit your tastes. For example, you can ditch the Welds, add a vintage intake and old 'vette valve covers, pull the cowl lights, cut down the windshield and add a cut-down 'A' grille shell to COMPLETELY change the look of the car for a couple grand.

    Good score! Make it yours!

That is just to cool, buddy of mine just did kinda the same thing with his chopped 35 Chevy sedan, real nice car, called up his son in Illinois , told him to come get his car for his 21st birthday. Gave him the Chevy lock, stock and barrel! Can't wait to do something like that for my son or better yet grandson, he's not quite 2 so may have to wait for a little while.

absolutely nothing wrong with that car the way it sits, your uncle built it with some help from yourself and it would do him proud to leave it as is

maybe a set of 5 spoke cragars though:D

  7. Yeah, I have to agree about the wheels. Never been a huge fan of them. But I do think the tire size is right on. I have a pair of M/T valve covers hanging on the garage wall that might find their way onto the engine after they get cleaned up a bit. Hell, I'm just happy to have a driver finally!

That thing is cool the way it is. It tells stories just the way it is. The only thing I'd change is put some seat belts in or don't slam on the brakes too hard or it could be bad for ya!

Awsome!!! Dad had a T when I was very small, but sold it when he got laid off from CAT. Who cares what it looks like, it's yours. Enjoy for all of us!

  12. True enough about the seat belts. That is the only real change planned for now. Anyone that wants a ride...just ask!

  14. Did I mention that he put over 10,000 miles on this little car? Still looks like a million bucks.

That's awesome! I can think of a handfull of things that I'd want to do right off the bat, but personally, I'd leave it as is as long as the Uncle is still around. And I'd do my damnedest to send him a new pic of me and the kiddos enjoying it as often as possible.

Once he leaves this Earth, then I'd consider changing it up, just out of respect, and because I think it'd be cool.

    Have fun!

20 years from now there will be bidding wars on ebay to get a set of those wheels just like Halibrands and American 5 spokes now

Cool T !!!!! It's really neat that you helped build the car and then he passed it on to you. Take good care of it and make your uncle proud.

My dad has his uncle's 29 Chevy Roadster Pickup. His aunt and uncle "passed" it on to my dad long before they died.

  18. That is easily the most disturbing thing I have heard in a long time:rolleyes:

What other "new/retro" trends will be brought back on ebay? Aqua painted wiper arms? IROC Chevy rims on EVERYTHING? Makes you squirm just thinking about it.

  19. Drive it,don't change a thing!!!Changing it might be disrespectful to your uncle at this point.;)

  20. Don't worry, I don't plan on changing it much (if at all). This is the way he built it, and this is the way I'll always remember it. It will always be referred as his car, I'm just the current caretaker.
