1953 Desoto steering wheel / horn ring

I need some help with getting the horn ring off a 1953 Desoto so i can get the steering wheel off. Is a certain way you turn the horn ring or do you have to remove the ****on and if so then how, i've tried just about everything and i don't want to break the horn ring in the process. Any help you could give. thanks

Push down on hernando in the center, turn counterclockwise approx 1/16 of a turn until it stops, and let go!
the horn ring center will come out then you can get to the screws that hold the horn ring on!

if it does break i have a PERFECT horn ****on, it comes with a horn ring and steering wheel i may be willing to unload.
