You have got to see this guy's ebay post. Trust me. Don't bother to look at the sticker for sale... scroll down and there is an incredible picture history of forgotten dragstrips...some famous and some just well remembered. Try not to cry...OK, I've had a couple drinks. This guy has got to be a HAMBer! http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/VINT...3QQihZ009QQcategoryZ50447QQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem
Yea,that is a hell of a ad,hell he done a better job on that single page then most info sites on drag racing.
What a bunch of great pics... Sheered the yoke off a GM 12 bolt in my 69 Z/28 right there!(1992-93) during street drags ...... Spewed rear diff oil all over the track closed the left lane for quite a while... I was not happy or popular that night....
I love the old pics of the Colorado Dragstrips-I have been to every one, and the one of "Mountain View Dragway" was where I became hooked on Drag Racing-the picture of the car in my Avatar was taken there and the Car was owned by a local guy who owned a Repair Shop-that was the car that I first loved, it would cover as much ground sideways as it did going straight-I believe that picture was in '67 or '68-
That's a new way to get all your key words in there without just making a boring list that will get your ad pulled...
Cool! the "Smokin" Amarillo Dragway was my home track...had no idea Ivo had ever even heard of it, much less made passes there. That's bitchin...made my first pass there...and found out what they mean by "asleep at the lights"!
Like others have said, great info. There is a name/spelling error however. The "Pullalup Raceway" is actually the "Puyallup Raceway". I have many fond memories of the track having grown up just a few miles away. My father raced there regularly and had several trophies for what he referred to as "grudge matches". Dad always raced whatever we had. I remember him piloting everything from a mild race '66 Chevy II to the family Capri.
