I was going through the HAMB cl***ifieds and I noticed there are quite a few HAMBers that sell a fair amount of stuff via the HAMB and they haven't found the extra scratch to become an alliance member. Whats up with that?

I realize its not a requirement, but it just seems like the right thing to do. Making money using the HAMB, maybe give back a little?

I'm planning on listing a '37 Chevy vintage circle tracker for sale at the HAMB Cl***ifieds tomorrow. If she sells, I'll gladly join the Alliance. I'd never though about using this board's resources to make money without giving back that way before. Some of us just need a gentle nudge..:)

Good Point. And the same people also sell the same stuff on other boards at the same time.

I guess it is cheaper to do it here rather than egay.

Being an Alliance member myself, I sure don't feel someone on here should be telling someone that they should join the Alliance because they use the cl***ifieds to buy or sell something. A lot of the guys selling parts have finished their cars and are selling off their extra parts, or selling parts at a loss. Therefore they don't need to purchase new parts. Many on here are on budgets and can't afford "Alliance". I don't think anyone on here is getting rich selling what I've seen in the cl***ifieds. The best thing about H.A.M.B.,and I'm 61 years old, is the FREEdom of what you want to say and do with this site.People should have the choice as to what they say, buy,or sell on here without "big brother" telling them they owe something for being a member of this great site.....just my opinion...Mike

The H.A.M.B. Alliance is a value offer... Meaning, if you buy one you should get your money's worth, right? I work really damn hard to get Vendors signed up and inline, so folks will feel like they are getting value.

That said, no one should feel obligated to buy a membership to post in the cl***ifieds. The cl***ifieds and the HAMB are FREE! Cool, huh?

That doesn't mean that some day I won't require an Alliance Membership to post in the cl***ifieds, but I don't think that day is anywhere near.

You're correct. What I meant, in essence, is that I'll contribute what you think is necessary to keep things on the up and up........

Bottom line - if you think the site and the Alliance services are worth the $50 a year, pay... If not, the site is free.

My business model is really one of faith. I have confidence that I can provide enough value that people are compelled to contribute.

So far, I've been really lucky to have some amazing people take care of me.

Going to move this one to the Q&A forum as it is prolly more appropriate there...

I didnt tell anyone to do anything...and trust me I know what its like to be on a budget, (married twice, divorced twice, two sons, and I'm a 47 year old copier repairman...hardly a big bucks career) but I still find a way to help out when I can.

This sight has given me so much knowledge and entertainment, and hasn't asked for a thing in return, seems like less than 15 cents a day is hardly a hardship on the ol wallet.

I was talking about the folks that use the HAMB to sell alot of stuff month in and month out. Not the majority of the folks here.

Everyone has an opinion, that was just mine. I can see where you're coming from too. I wasn't trying to ruffle yours or anyone else's feathers...just tossing a thought out there.
